The present study describes a model-based approach for correcting off-resonance in the context of double half-echo k-space acquisitions. This technique employs center-out readouts in forward and reverse directions to reduce echo-times but is sensitive to off-resonance, which manifests as pixel shifts in both directions. Demodulating the k-space signal with a constant off-resonance term per slice removes pixel shifts and results in a marked reduction in blurring.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA novel method for iterative reconstruction of images from undersampled MRI data acquired by multiple receiver coil systems is presented. Based on Projection onto Convex Sets (POCS) formalism, the method for SENSitivity Encoded data reconstruction (POCSENSE) can be readily modified to include various linear and nonlinear reconstruction constraints. Such constraints may be beneficial for reconstructing highly and overcritically undersampled data sets to improve image quality.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAnisotropic diffusion filtering is widely used for MR image enhancement. However, the anisotropic filter is nonoptimal for MR images with spatially varying noise levels, such as images reconstructed from sensitivity-encoded data and intensity inhomogeneity-corrected images. In this work, a new method for filtering MR images with spatially varying noise levels is presented.

MRI diffusion imaging is effective in measuring the diffusion tensor in brain, cardiac, liver, and spinal tissue. Diffusion tensor tomography MRI (DTT MRI) method is based on reconstructing the diffusion tensor field from measurements of projections of the tensor field. Projections are obtained by appropriate application of rotated diffusion gradients.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThere is considerable similarity between proton density-weighted (PDw) and T2-weighted (T2w) images acquired by dual-contrast fast spin-echo (FSE) sequences. The similarity manifests itself in image space as consistency between the phases of PDw and T2w images and in k-space as correspondence between PDw and T2w k-space data. A method for motion artifact reduction for dual-contrast FSE imaging has been developed.
