Article Synopsis
  • SARS-CoV-2 infects the body through ACE2 receptors, and its presence can lead to heart complications, prompting researchers to examine the effects of elevated troponin levels on COVID-19 outcomes.
  • A retrospective study analyzed 375 hospitalized COVID-19 patients, revealing that 34% had elevated high-sensitivity troponin I (hsTnI) levels, which were linked to a significantly higher mortality rate.
  • Increased troponin levels significantly raised the risk of death by four times, highlighting its importance in assessing prognosis for COVID-19 patients.
