Background: Increased incidence of periodontal disease is described in adult patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), implicating similarities in gut immunopathogenesis and periodontitis.

Aim: Evaluation of periodontal status and treatment needs of children with IBD in remission, according to disease phenotype, sex, age, and oral hygiene status, and compare them to age-matched healthy population of a dental practice.

Methods: Fifty-five children with IBD (mean age 12.

Background: Previous reports have demonstrated a higher prevalence of dental caries and periodontal disease in adults with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), but similar data in children and adolescents do not exist. The aim of the study was to evaluate the status of dental caries, oral hygiene, gingival status and periodontal treatment needs of children with IBD.

Methods: In this case-control study, 55 children on remission from a single outpatient IBD clinic, aged 4 to 18 years (12.

During the last three centuries since the identification of periodontal disease, various non-surgical and surgical forms of periodontal therapy have been described and documented in the dental literature. The main objective of periodontal treatment has been initially the removal of "diseased gingiva," either through the implementation of various surgical techniques, or through the application of caustic drugs or pressing patches. Although the differences in the suggested techniques created significant controversies between some of the greatest clinicians and researchers in dentistry, their main goals remained the rehabilitation of the oral cavity and the therapeutic management of the problems sustained from periodontal disease.

Objectives: To study whether in vitrofertilization (IVF) treatment has any effect on women's preexisting periodontal status and, if pre-existing women's periodontal status has any impact on IVF outcomes, such as superovulation for multiple follicles maturation, oocyte retrieval and embryo transfer, as well as on pregnancy and its outcomes.

Methods: Sixty women aged 29 to 41 years were recruited in the study. Gingival inflammation (simplified gingival index, GI-S), plaque levels (plaque control record index, PCR), bleeding on probing (BOP) and probing depth (PD), were recorded for all participants before and after IVF.

Objective: This study assessed root proximity (RP) in patients with and without periodontitis in terms of prevalence, distribution, location along the root, width and severity, and explored the role of RP characteristics in the type of alveolar bone loss (horizontal or angular).

Materials And Methods: Root proximity was studied in the interdental spaces of 250 patients with periodontitis and 80 patients without disease. Linear measurements were performed in digitized radiographs.

Background: Investigators have evaluated predictive parameters of tooth loss during the maintenance phase (MP). The authors conducted a retrospective study to evaluate the rate of tooth loss and to explore the parameters that affect tooth loss during MP in a Greek population.

Methods: A periodontist administered periodontal treatment and maintenance care to 280 participants with severe periodontitis for a mean period +/- standard deviation of 10.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between the degree of patient compliance with the suggested periodontal maintenance treatment intervals and the new root caries development 5 years after the completion of the active periodontal treatment. The percentage of root surfaces with new root caries was low for both the erratic and the complete compliance patient groups. Erratic compliance with the suggested maintenance intervals 5 years after the active periodontal treatment leads to greater root caries prevalence, greater percentages of patients and root surfaces with new root caries, greater root caries prevalence for smokers, and greater percentages of new defects in root surfaces with further clinical attachment loss and plaque retention.
