Background: The patient-physician relationship has evolved from the paternalistic, physician-dominant model to the shared-decision-making and informed-consumerist model. The level of patient involvement in this decision-making process can potentially influence patient satisfaction and quality of life. Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a common complaint after plastic and reconstructive surgery. Transdermal scopolamine is a commonly used agent for prevention of PONV. Anisocoria from transdermal scopolamine use is an adverse effect that has not been reported in the plastic surgery literature.
