Factors associated with acute malnutrition among children aged 6-59 months in Haiti, Burkina Faso and Madagascar: A pooled analysis.

Background: Acute malnutrition is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality among children under 5 years worldwide, and Action Contre la Faim (ACF) aims to address its causes and consequences. To better tailor humanitarian programs, ACF conducts standardized contextual studies called Link NCAs (Nutrition Causal Analysis), to identify factors associated with severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and moderate acute malnutrition (MAM). Data from three Link NCAs performed in 2018 and 2019 in Haiti, Burkina Faso and Madagascar were used to explore the prevalence of malnutrition by different indicators and associated risk factors among children aged 6-59 months.

To tPA or Not to tPA: Two Medical-Legal Misadventures of Diagnosing a Cerebrovascular Accident as a Stroke Mimic.

We present two recent successfully litigated malpractice cases in which patients with cerebrovascular accidents were misdiagnosed as stroke mimics. The first was diagnosed as a hemiplegic migraine, which occurs in only 0.01% of the population.

Food safety considerations for commercial complementary foods from global operational guidance on infant and young child feeding in emergencies.

The use of commercial complementary food (CCF) in humanitarian emergencies is an emerging topic in nutrition policy. Food safety guidance is helpful for the prevention of foodborne illnesses in infants and young children, but whether current global operational guidance on infant and young child feeding in emergencies (IYCF-E) adequately addresses food safety for CCF in humanitarian emergencies is unknown. The aim of this review was to identify and synthesize available food safety guidance on the use of CCF in humanitarian emergencies.
