Pediatric golf-related ophthalmic injuries.

Objectives: To document ophthalmic morbidity of golf-related injuries in children and to report specific injury patterns.

Design: A noncomparative, interventional, retrospective case series of 11 pediatric patients treated at 2 institutions for ophthalmic trauma resulting from golf-related injuries during 15 years.

Results: Eleven eyes of 11 patients were injured.

CyberKnife radiosurgery and rituximab in the successful management of sclerosing idiopathic orbital inflammatory disease.

A 26-year-old man presented with symptoms suggesting idiopathic orbital inflammatory disease. After a poor initial response to oral steroids, an orbital biopsy confirmed the diagnosis. A paucicellular lymphocytic infiltrate with areas of fibrosis was seen to replace normal tissue.

Protecting the retinal pigment epithelium during macular hole surgery.

Herein a new surgical technique used during pars plana vitrectomy with internal limiting membrane peeling for macular hole surgery is reported. Perfluorocarbon liquid is used to tamponade the macular hole in order to prevent indocyanine green contact with the retinal pigment epithelium.
