Use of EUS-FNA in diagnosing pancreatic neoplasm without a definitive mass on CT.

Background: Diagnosis of pancreatic neoplasm is challenging in patients with inconclusive findings on pancreatic multidetector row CT (MDCT).

Objective: To determine the diagnostic accuracy and to identify predictors of pancreatic neoplasm by EUS with FNA in this setting.

Design: Retrospective chart review during the study period of January 2002 to December 2010.

Drug-induced liver injury: hepatotoxicity of quetiapine revisited.

Drug hepatotoxicity is the most common cause of fulminant hepatic failure in the USA. We describe a rare case of a patient who developed an acute liver injury after initiation of therapy with quetiapine, but after conservative management and a trial of steroids, has fully recovered. This is the second reported case of quetiapine-induced liver injury in the published literature.

MELD fails to measure quality of life in liver transplant candidates.

Previous studies have demonstrated an association between Child Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) class and impaired quality of life. However, the relationship between the model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) score and quality of life (QOL) has not been well studied. In this study, quality of life questionnaires (Medical Outcomes Short Form 36 [SF-36] and the Chronic Liver Disease Questionnaire [CLDQ]) were administered to 150 adult patients awaiting liver transplantation.
