Comparison of gemcitabine plus oxaliplatin versus gemcitabine plus nab-paclitaxel as first-line chemotherapy for advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma: A single-center retrospective analysis.

Background: Pancreatic cancer is mostly diagnosed in an advanced stage and treated with systemic therapy with palliative intent. Nowadays, the doublet chemotherapy of Gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel (Gem-Nab) is one of the most frequently used regimens worldwide, but is not ubiquitarily available or reimbursed. Therefore, we compared the clinical efficacy of Gem-Nab to a historical control of patients treated with gemcitabine and oxaliplatin (Gem-Ox) at our tertiary cancer center, which was the standard treatment prior to the introduction of FOLFIRINOX.

Erythropoietin receptor (EPOR) is widely expressed in healthy and malignant tissues. In certain malignancies, EPOR stimulates tumor growth. In healthy tissues, EPOR controls processes other than erythropoiesis, including mitochondrial metabolism.

A case report of COVID-19 monitoring in the Austrian professional football league.

Since the beginning of the COVID -19 pandemic, many contact sport teams are facing major challenges to safely continue training and competition. We present the design and implementation of a structured monitoring concept for the Austrian national football league. 146 professional players from five clubs of the professional Austrian football league were monitored for a period of 12 weeks.

Caring for a Relative with Dementia: Determinants and Gender Differences of Caregiver Burden in the Rural Setting.

Dementia is a progressive disease that puts substantial strain on caregivers. Many persons with dementia (PwDs) receive care from a relative. Since male and female caregivers experience different issues related to stress, it is important to meet their different needs to prevent the early nursing home placement of PwDs.

Citizens, doctors, politicians - who´s an expert in times of COVID-19? A survey in Austria and Germany.

Background: This study aimed to explore which measures and risk factors for a COVID - 19 infection are considered most important in the general population, health experts and policymakers and to assess the level of agreement across the groups from Austria and Germany.

Methods: A two-phased survey was conducted, participants were matched according to age and gender. Three different groups were asked which measures they considered most relevant in reducing a COVID-19 transmission, to determine which factors contribute most to the risk of disease, and to evaluate the level of agreement in the assessment of risk factor relevance for (a) the transmission of the disease and (b) the risk of a severe course of COVID-19.

Home care nursing for persons with dementia from a family caregivers' point of view: Predictors of utilisation in a rural setting in Austria.

The service utilisation of persons with dementia (PwD) and their caregivers is subject to lively debate. The reasons for non-utilisation are manifold and heterogeneous. Conceptual models and explanatory frameworks may help identify predictors of the usage of health services.

Comparing perspectives of family caregivers and healthcare professionals regarding caregiver burden in dementia care: results of a mixed methods study in a rural setting.

Background: Persons with dementia (PwD) need support to remain in their own homes as long as possible. Family caregivers, homecare nurses and general practitioners (GPs) play an important role in providing this support, particularly in rural settings. Assessing caregiver burden is important to prevent adverse health effects among this population.

Relative Uptake Factor of Invasive Ductal Breast Cancer in Breast-specific Gamma Imaging as a Surrogate Parameter for Sub-typing.

Aim: The retrospective evaluation of correlations between semi-quantitative breast-specific gamma imaging (BSGI) and invasive ductal breast cancer (IDC) sub-types.

Materials And Methods: The biopsy specimen of 50 histologically-proven IDCs were retrospectively evaluated concerning receptor status, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2/Neu) status, Ki-67 level and classification into IDC sub-types. These results were compared to the relative uptake factor (RUF) in BSGI.
