Article Synopsis
- Red clover was inoculated with the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus Glomus mosseae, leading to significant increases in root and shoot dry weight as well as phosphorus content.
- Mycorrhization boosted levels of biochanin A but decreased genistein in the shoot, while other isoflavones remained unchanged, and overall shoot biomass more than doubled compared to non-mycorrhizal plants.
- Unlike phosphorus treatment, which increased biomass but decreased estrogenic activity, arbuscular mycorrhiza enhanced biomass without negatively impacting the plant's estrogenic properties.
