Background: Two significant limitations of intraperitoneal drug therapy are limited drug distribution and poor penetration into peritoneal nodules. A possible solution is the application of the so-called "therapeutic pneumoperitoneum," taking advantage of the gaseous nature and the pressure of capnoperitoneum during laparoscopy.
