Osteoporotic fractures, particularly subcapital hip fractures (SCF), pose a significant healthcare and economic burden. The routine pathological examination of resected femoral heads in such cases is common practice, aimed at identifying malignancies that may have contributed to bone fragility. This study evaluated the cost-effectiveness and clinical utility of routine femoral head pathology in patients undergoing surgical treatment for SCF.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study included patients who presented to the ED with nonspecific back and neck pain between January 2019 and December 2021. Demographic data, visit frequencies, and clinical outcomes were analyzed to assess the impact of the pandemic on visit patterns.
Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a standard treatment for a displaced femoral neck fracture in the elderly. In contemporary healthcare, there is a global shift towards fast-track treatment modalities, prioritizing early hospital discharge for patients. Consequently, routine postoperative blood tests may become redundant, offering significant time and cost savings.

Methods: We carried out a retrospective cohort study of the medical records of all consecutive patients who were diagnosed with BP at a single tertiary referral center between 2010 and 2017. Included were patients 18 years or older who were clinically diagnosed with BP and completed 7 days of systemic steroidal treatment and at least 6 months of follow-up.
Background: The current minimally invasive distal metatarsal osteotomy for hallux valgus (HV) is V-shaped, which prevents the correction of the rotational metatarsal head deformity and reduction of the sesamoid bones. We sought to determine the optimal method for sesamoid bone reduction during HV surgery.
Methods: We reviewed the medical records of 53 patients who underwent HV surgery between 2017 and 2019 using one of three techniques: open chevron osteotomy (n = 19), minimally invasive V-shaped osteotomy (n = 18), and a modified straight minimally invasive osteotomy (n = 16).
Background: The assessment and identification of elderly patients with proximal femur fractures (PFF) who are at high risk of postoperative mortality may influence the treatment decision-making process. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) could be used to predict postoperative mortality in the elderly population. Methods: A four-year retrospective cohort study of electronic medical records was conducted at a single tertiary care hospital between 2015 and 2018.

As such, we compared PRP treatment to PPF surgery in patients with CPF. Between January 2015 and January 2017, patients were randomly divided into two groups, a PRP treatment group, and a PPF group.

This pathology has the potential to severely limit basic life activities, which can be devastating for patients in developing countries. The objective of this study was to present the outcomes of patients with mature bones presenting with severe rigid TEV deformity who were operated on during a humanitarian mission to Vietnam using a single lateral approach and a simple and inexpensive fixation technique.
