Impact of Patient Factors on Robotic-Assisted Partial Nephrectomy Operating Room Times: The Case for Fixed Operating Room Time as a Viable Efficiency Target.

To analyze the association of patient characteristics on operating room (OR) times for robotic-assisted partial nephrectomies (RAPNs). In total, 248 consecutive RAPNs were performed by a single surgeon from October 2018 to August 2022. Data were collected on the following patient factors: sex, age, race, weight, body mass index (BMI), diabetes, hypertension (HTN), tumor side, tumor mass, and American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) score.

Evaluating the necessity of postoperative day 1 labs following laparoscopic radical nephrectomy (LRN).

Background: Standard postoperative care following laparoscopic radical nephrectomy (LRN) typically includes routine blood tests. Recent studies have assessed the safety of omitting routine postoperative labs in minimally invasive surgeries to reduce hospital costs. Our primary objective was to evaluate if routine postoperative day 1 (POD1) labs were necessary following LRN.

Same-Day Discharge Following Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate Under Spinal Anesthesia: A Propensity Score Matched Comparison With General Anesthesia.

Objective: To determine if using spinal anesthesia (SA) for holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) impacted the ability to perform same-day discharge (SDD) compared to a prostate volume-matched cohort undergoing HoLEP under general anesthesia (GA).

Methods: From January 1, 2021 to March 28, 2024, 995 men underwent HoLEP by a single surgeon. Three hundred eleven were identified who had SA and a recorded preoperative prostate volume.

Disparities in Basal Cell Carcinoma: A Comparative Analysis of Hispanic and Non-Hispanic White Individuals.

Objective: We sought to examine possible differences in BCC characteristics and treatment patterns between two matched cohorts of Hispanic White and non-Hispanic White individuals.

Methods: In this single institution, retrospective matched cohort study, data from patients with biopsy proven BCC from June 2005 to May 2022 was collected. Demographic, BCC, and treatment characteristics were compared between Hispanic White and non-Hispanic White individuals using a Wilcoxon rank-sum test, for continuous and ordinal variables, and Fisher's exact test, for categorical variables.

Association of day of surgery and distance traveled with length of stay in patients undergoing robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) at a tertiary medical center.

The objective of this study is to analyze the association between surgical day of the week and distance traveled with prolonged length of stay (LOS) following robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN). 563 consecutive RAPN performed by a single surgeon were evaluated. Early week RAPN was considered Monday through Wednesday, while late-week RAPN was defined as surgery performed Thursday through Friday.

Investigating the concomitance of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) associated vasculitides and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Objective: To assess relationship between Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) associated vasculitis and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Methods: This is a retrospective study design. The patients were identified using a preset criteria of patients who have the diagnosis of ANCA associated vasculitis including a diagnosis of granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) or microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) or eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) with overlapping inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis) in the time period from 01/01/2020 to 08/03/2023.
