Biohydroxylation of (-)-ambrox®, (-)-sclareol, and (+)-sclareolide by whole cells of Brazilian marine-derived fungi.

A screening was performed using nine marine-derived fungi as biocatalysts and the natural products (-)-ambrox® (1), (-)-sclareol (2), and (+)-sclareolide (3) in order to select the microorganisms able to catalyze the biooxidation of these compounds. It was observed that only the Aspergillus sydowii CBMAI 934, Botryosphaeria sp., Eutypella sp.

[Larvicidal activity of Anacardium humile Saint Hill oil on Aedes aegypti (Linnaeus, 1762) (Diptera, Culicidae)].

Antioxidant phenolic and quinonemethide triterpenes from Cheiloclinium cognatum.

The triterpenes, 22beta-hydroxypristimerin and cognatine, were isolated together with the known compounds pristimerin, maytenin, 20alpha-hydroxymaytenin, 22beta-hydroxymaytenin, netzahualcoyol, netzahualcoyondiol and netzahualcoyone from root bark of Cheiloclinium cognatum. The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated by interpretation of their spectral data, including gHMQC and gHMBC experiments. The isolates were investigated for their radical scavenging abilities through a spectrophotometric assay involving reduction of 2,2-diphenyl-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH).
