Importance: Disseminated superficial actinic porokeratosis (DSAP) is an inherited or sporadic disorder of keratinization associated with germline variations. There is no effective standard of care therapy for DSAP, but treatment with topical lovastatin combined with cholesterol cream has shown promise.

Objectives: To evaluate and compare the safety and efficacy of topical lovastatin 2% plus cholesterol 2% cream (lovastatin-cholesterol) and topical lovastatin 2% cream (lovastatin) alone in adults diagnosed with DSAP.

We report two unrelated infants who presented with orolabial ulcerations as a presenting manifestation of neonatal lupus erythematosus (NLE). Subsequent positive anti-SSA/SSB titers confirmed the diagnosis. In both infants, the ulcerations were painless and spontaneously resolved.

Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) affects 1 in 40 people and is the most common indication for mitral valve surgery. MVP can cause arrhythmias, heart failure, and sudden cardiac death, and to date, the causes of this disease are poorly understood. We now demonstrate that defects in primary cilia genes and their regulated pathways can cause MVP in familial and sporadic nonsyndromic MVP cases.
