Objective: Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) are rare autoimmune diseases that primarily affect striated muscles; skin, joints, and lungs may be involved with different degrees of severity. Traditional treatment relies on high-dose glucocorticoids and conventional synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs.

Methods: A growing amount of evidence is demonstrating the potential role of novel treatments in the management of IIM.

Angiogenesis inhibition treatments are limited and are often too late for advanced gastric cancer (GC) patients, in whom its efficacy is reduced. New molecular biomarkers are needed to optimize therapy regimens. In regard to this framework, circulating miRNAs, with high sensitivity and specificity, could be useful biomarkers of GC.

  • The study evaluates the safety and effectiveness of switching from the original rituximab (RTX-O) to its biosimilars (RTX-B) in patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases (ARDs), with a focus on long-term drug retention and safety.
  • It included 181 patients who switched to either GP2013 or CT-P10, finding that the drug retention rates were high over 36 months, particularly for GP2013.
  • The transition to CT-P10 showed a higher risk of discontinuation, but overall, the switch to RTX-B was deemed safe with a low incidence of adverse events.

The first search for soft unclustered energy patterns (SUEPs) is performed using an integrated luminosity of 138  fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13  TeV, collected in 2016-2018 by the CMS detector at the LHC. Such SUEPs are predicted by hidden valley models with a new, confining force with a large 't Hooft coupling. In events with boosted topologies, selected by high-threshold hadronic triggers, the multiplicity and sphericity of clustered tracks are used to reject the background from standard model quantum chromodynamics.

Unlabelled: Understanding the genetic diversity of crops is of fundamental importance for the efficient use and improvement of germplasm resources. Different molecular genotyping systems have been implemented for population structure and phylogenetic relationships analyses, among which, microsatellites (SSRs) and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) markers have been the most widely used. This study reports the efficacy of SNPs detected via double-digest restriction-site-associated DNA sequencing (ddRADseq) and SSRs analyzed via capillary electrophoresis (CE) and high-resolution melting (HRM) in tomato.

Objective: The aim of this study was to define the economic and organizational impacts related to a broader utilization of bictegravir/emtricitabine/alafenamide (BIC/FTC/TAF) in Italian clinical practice.

Methods: A budget impact analysis-representing the evolution of the Italian National Healthcare Service (NHS) healthcare expenditure over 3 years-was developed, considering the overall Italian population treated for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Model input variables were treatment history, therapeutic regimen, development of adverse events, achievement of an undetectable viral load and total direct healthcare costs.

Treatment options for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA), a highly malignant tumor with poor prognosis, are limited. Recent developments in immunotherapy and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have offered new hope for treating iCCA. However, several issues remain, including the identification of reliable biomarkers of response to ICIs and immune-based combinations.

Article Synopsis
  • Early-stage gastric cancer often goes undetected due to a lack of specific symptoms, resulting in late diagnoses and advanced disease, highlighting the need for new biomarkers for early detection and treatment matching.
  • The study investigated the prognostic significance of ENPP2/Autotaxin (ATX) and lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) in Gastro-Esophageal Adenocarcinoma (GEA), finding that higher levels of these substances could indicate worse patient outcomes.
  • Results showed that while ENPP2 mutations are infrequent, they are linked to lower overall survival, and surgical removal of tumors significantly reduced serum ATX and LPA levels, suggesting potential for targeted therapies based on these biomarkers in future clinical trials.

  • The study investigates the interaction between plant-derived nanovesicles (PDNVs), particularly lemon-derived nanovesicles (LNVs), and mammalian cells, highlighting their potential to regulate important molecular pathways.
  • It focuses on the antioxidant effects of LNVs and industrial-scale lemon nanovesicles (iLNVs) on healthy human liver cells and rats with metabolic syndrome induced by a high-fat diet, showing a reduction in reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and an increase in antioxidant proteins (Nrf2 and HO-1).
  • The results suggest that iLNVs improve glucose tolerance and lipid metabolism in rats while enhancing overall liver health, positioning LNVs/iLNVs as a potential treatment for

Aberrant alternative splicing events play a critical role in cancer biology, contributing to tumor invasion, metastasis, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and drug resistance. Recent studies have shown that alternative splicing is a key feature for transcriptomic variations in colorectal cancer, which ranks third among malignant tumors worldwide in both incidence and mortality. Long non-coding RNAs can modulate this process by acting as trans-regulatory agents, recruiting splicing factors, or driving them to specific targeted genes.
