Minimally Invasive Reconstruction of Vertebral Arch in Spondylolisthesis in Children and Adolescents.

Unlabelled: was to assess the effectiveness of the minimally invasive technique used to reconstruct the vertebral arch with a pedicle screw hook system in grade I isthmic spondylolisthesis in comparison with the traditional technique of segment stabilization with interbody fusion.

Materials And Methods: The study included 26 patients aged from 11 to 17 years. The follow-up period lasted from 1 to 7 years.

Hirschsprung's disease in adults is a rare pathology. It was suggested the new method of Hirschsprung's disease surgical treatment in adults: distal subtotal colectomy, mesorectumectomy, appendectomy with ceco-anal anastomosis. The successful experience of laparoscopic subtotal colectomy, mesorectumectomy for this pathology is described in the article.

[The role of double-ballon enteroscopy in diagnosis and treatment of polypoid syndromes of gastrointestinal tract].

It was done 192 double-ballon enteroscopies in 141 patients at the period from March 2009 to March 2012. Epithelial benign tumors were detected in 10 (7.1%) patients with congenital polypoid syndromes.

Biological production and eutrophication of Baltic Sea estuarine ecosystems: the Curonian and Vistula Lagoons.

The long-term data on the temporal and spatial changes of chlorophyll and nutrients concentrations, phytoplankton biomass, primary production and mineralization of organic matter in the Curonian and Vistula Lagoons were analyzed using seasonal data to 1994 and monthly data to 2007 at 9-12 stations. A comparison with hydrological (water temperature, salinity, water exchange) and chemical parameters indicate the main abiotic factors which influence the level of biological production and the trophic state of lagoons. Most of the Curonian Lagoon showed the strong summer warming-up of water (higher 20 degrees C) combined with freshwater conditions, slow-flow velocity and high concentrations of phosphorus which creates conditions for hyperblooms of Cyanobacteria.

Dynamics of assessments of time intervals by patients with heroin addiction.

The perception of 12-sec time intervals time by patients with heroin addiction was assessed in 10 trials with precision of up to 0.1 sec. A total of 82 patients with heroin addiction were studied in the withdrawal and post-withdrawal periods.

[Dynamics of time intervals evaluation in heroin addicts].

An evaluation of time perception in drug addicts was carried out in 12 s intervals, using 10 attempts with up to 0.1 s precision. Eighty-two heroin addicts in abstinent and post abstinent periods have been observed, the results being compared to 52 healthy controls.

[Morphological aspects of diagnosis of acute opiate poisoning].

Clinical anatomical analysis, forensic chemical, morphological, bacteriological, and immunological investigations of material from 62 subjects dead from acute poisoning with opiates before hospitalization (31 cases) and in hospital (31 cases) were carried out. Organ and tissue lesions typical of opiate poisoning were detected. The outcome of acute poisoning with opiates is largely determined by severe dystrophic and inflammatory processes in organs and tissues, typical of narcomaniacs.

[Hydrolysis of chimeric proteins by enteropeptidase at the specific linker (Asp)4Lys depending on refolding conditions].

Refolding from inclusion bodies of chimeric proteins containing the enteropeptidase-specific linker (Asp)4Lys was carried out. It was shown that, depending on the refolding conditions, chimeric proteins function as substrates or inhibitors of the enteropeptidase. The efficiency of the enteropeptidase hydrolysis of chimeric proteins containing the (Asp)4Lys linker may depend not only on the amino acid sequence of the protein binding site for the enzyme but also on the site conformation.

[Cardiolipin antibodies in pregnancy of high risk].

Cardiolipin IgG and IgM antibodies (CAb) were studied in 116 cases of high-risk pregnancy. All the women were undergoing examination or treatment in regional perinatal center. CAb occurred more frequently in antenatal fetal death (50%).

[Duodenase--a potential activator of cascade of digestive proteases].

The substrate specificity of duodenase from bovine duodenum mucosa to synthetic and natural polypeptides was studied. Amino acid residues preferential for duodenase in the P1 and P2 positions of the substrate were determined. It was shown that the enzyme is synthesized in epithelial secretory cells of duodenal (Brunner's) glands and enters, as part of the secreta, into the lumen of the duodenum.

[Digestion of Luliberine analogues containing D-alanine residue by human gastric juice].

The digestion of surphagone and other luliberine analogues containing residues of D-amino acids by human gastric juice was studied. By means of chromatography and mass spectrometry, these peptides were shown to undergo hydrolysis of the bond formed by D-Ala at the P-1 position, and this hydrolysis was shown to be catalyzed by gastricsin rather than pepsin A. Gastricsin was assumed to be a highly specific protease.

[Primary meningeal sarcomatosis of the brain and spinal cord with multiple tumor nodes].

One case of this rare tumor diagnosed clinically in a female of 24 is reported. Cell composition was the same in both brain and spinal cord. There was a combination of a diffuse pattern of tumor cell arrangement with a formation of nodules and the spread of tumour cells along the perivascular spaces into the brain and spinal cord, along the endoneurium to the cranial and spinal nerve roots and metastasizing through the liquor system.

At present peripheral and central levels of response to needling are recognized. In a review of the published literature mechanisms are discussed of analgetic and antipyretic effects of acupuncture based on the latest findings in the field of neurochemistry.

[Effectiveness of proteolytic enzymes].

The theory suggests a participation of the valence interactions in the formation of a productive complex and connects the efficiency and the specificity of proteolysis with the structure of such a complex. Proved is nonproductivity of nonvalence complexes in which the reactive amide group of the substrate is planar.

Tetrahedral intermediates of the alpha-chymotrypsin acylation by N-protected amide dipeptide substrates having different leaving groups were analyzed by means of the molecular mechanic method. A predominant role of the C-terminal interactions in the leaving group protonation and in the development of a kinetic specificity was determined. The kinetic specificity of serine proteases was shown to be controlled by the transformation of various forms of tetrahedral substrate intermediates at the presteady stage.
