We report a case of a patient with a potentially unstable cervical spine injury who presented for a nonspinal surgery and experienced agitation on emergence from anesthesia. The use of an intravenous sedative was necessary to ensure cervical spine immobilization but was complicated by severe respiratory depression and the need for reintubation and admission to intensive care.

Given the high rate of ovarian cancer metastasis to the omental adipose, we hypothesized that omental-derived ASC may contribute to ovarian cancer growth and dissemination.
Materials And Methods: We isolated ASCs from the omentum of three patients with ovarian cancer, with (O-ASC4, O-ASC5) and without (O-ASC1) omental metastasis.
Several neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease (AD), have etiology connected to abnormal protein self association. Copper-induced striking differences in amyloid-β40 aggregation, distinct from spontaneous self association, prompted us to study whether amyloid-β40 aggregation could be applied to differentiate between platelet poor plasma ultrafiltrates obtained from AD and control samples. We report, based on 20 AD and 18 age-matched controls, a significant difference in the concentration of short fibers induced by ultrafiltrated plasma from AD compared to control samples.

We propose that there are 5300-5400 genes in the genome. This makes the first estimation of the number of intronless ORFs longer than 100 codons, based on the features of the set of genes with phenotypes known in 1997 to be correct.
