Article Synopsis
  • Researchers microencapsulated honeydew honey and royal jelly into biopolymeric microparticles made from rye bran heteropolysaccharides to create controlled-release systems that maintain the beneficial properties of these bioactive compounds.
  • These microcapsules, produced via spray-drying, were found to withstand stomach acidity and digestive enzymes, enhancing the growth and adhesion of beneficial probiotic bacteria.
  • Fermentation of the microcapsules in the large intestine resulted in a significant increase (39.2%) in the production of short-chain fatty acids, indicating potential new uses for these encapsulated bee products in nutraceuticals.
