Effectiveness of eradication established on the basis of examination of antibiotic resistance of the bacteria.

Introduction: The treatment of (HP) tends to be empirical despite a high number of failures (over 20%). The efficacy of eradication therapies is declining, reaching in some countries 60%, which correlates inversely with the growing drug resistance of the bacteria.

Aim: Given the frequent inefficacy of the hitherto proposed treatment schemes for HP infection, an attempt was made to assess the efficacy of a therapy based on the antibiotic resistance of the cultured bacteria, and to analyse factors with possible contribution to the inefficacy of HP eradication treatment.

Antimicrobial resistance of Helicobacter pylori in Poland: a multicentre study.

The resistance of Helicobacter pylori to antimicrobials, known to be increasing in many countries, is an important factor compromising the efficacy of eradication therapy. Therefore, our study aimed at analysing the current susceptibility status of H. pylori in Poland.

Background: Statistically high prevalence of malignant neoplasm of digestive organs in the city of Łódź encouraged us to make an attempt to evaluate effects of adverse environmental factors and Helicobacter pyroli infection on the selected parameters of oxygen metabolism.

Materials And Methods: The study group consisted of 50 Łódź inhabitants, living and working in the center of the city, exposed to carcinogenic environmental factors. Of this number, 25 subjects were infected with Helicobacter pyroli and 25 subjects were free from the infection.
