[Treatment of Familial Adenomatous Polyposis and family screening].

Background: To reduce the mortality associated to Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP), screening of close relatives of patients with the disease is crucial.

Aim: To analyze the results of the surgical treatment of patients with FAP, and to evaluate the family screening.

Patients And Methods: Clinical records of patients operated in our institution since 1977, were reviewed analyzing surgical and pathological results, and follow up.

[Hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer: surgical treatment and pedigree analysis].

Background: Hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) accounts for 3 to 5% of all colorectal cancer (CC). It is an autosomal dominant syndrome with 80% of penetrance for this disease.

Aim: To analyze the pedigree and surgical treatment of HNPCC.

[Mesenteric acute ischemia caused by spontaneous and isolated dissection of the superior mesenteric artery].

Spontaneous dissection of the superior mesenteric artery is an unusual cause of mesenteric ischemia. Diagnosis can be based on findings of the belicoidal computed tomography or selective angiography of the superior mesenteric artery. We report two male patients, aged 47 and 50 years, who were admitted for abdominal pain.
