Objective: To evaluate outcomes and complication rate of utilizing a string-of-pearls (SOP) plate augmented with adjunctive fixation in the repair of canine femur fractures.
Methods: Records of canine patients with mid-diaphyseal femoral fractures repaired with the SOP plate and adjunctive fixation were reviewed. Information retrieved from medical records included signalment, patient weight, fracture configuration, repair technique, healing time, and complications based on perioperative radiographic follow-up to clinical union.
Objective: To describe demographics, clinical presentation, shunt anatomy, clinical progression, and complications in large dogs ≥15 kg with single extrahepatic portosystemic shunts (EHPSS) treated with or without surgery.
Study Design: Multicenter retrospective (10 university hospitals, one private referral institution).
Animals: Dogs ≥15 kg (n = 63).

Objective: To describe the successful case management of an extradural hematoma secondary to anticoagulant rodenticide toxicity causing spinal compression and paraplegia.
Case Summary: A 3-month-old, female intact, mixed breed dog was presented for a 12-hour history of paraplegia. CBC and biochemistry results were unremarkable, and a coagulation panel revealed prolonged prothrombin time with normal activated partial thromboplastin time.
A 5-year-old neutered male Labrador retriever dog with a 3-year history of intermittent hemorrhage from the right metacarpal pad was evaluated. A small region of hyperattenuation of the metacarpal pad was evident on computed tomographic angiography. Excisional biopsy of the location of the purported hemorrhage revealed a micro-arteriovenous malformation on histologic examination.
