Article Synopsis
  • Persistent air leaks can be challenging for patients and doctors, particularly when surgery is involved, and endobronchial valves offer a less invasive treatment option.
  • In a study of 8 patients with persistent air leaks, the procedure involved using flexible bronchoscopy to insert valves, where 75% of patients experienced complete resolution of their leaks without complications.
  • The findings suggest that endobronchial valves are a safe and effective way to manage persistent air leaks and serve as a viable alternative to surgical intervention.

Despite its proven diagnostic utility some of the pulmonary fellowship programs have chosen to eliminate training for C-TBNA from their curriculum.
