Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of mortality worldwide and often results in substantial cognitive, motor, and psychological impairments, triggering oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and neurodegeneration. This study examined the neuroprotective effects of azithromycin (AZI) in TBI.

Methods: TBI was induced in rats using the weight-drop method.

Being a central organ in homeostasis and maintaining the health of the biological system, kidneys are exposed to variable toxicants. Long-term exposure to nephrotoxic molecules causes chronic renal damage that causes fibrosis and loss of function. Such damage can be initiated by oxidative stress which provokes inflammation.

Agranulocytosis represents a severe complication associated with the administration of clozapine. Clozapine is an antipsychotic medication that has demonstrated substantial efficacy in remediating refractory schizophrenia and various other psychiatric disorders. Nonetheless, it is crucial to monitor patients for neutropenia regularly during clozapine therapy.

Background: Acute pancreatitis (AP) is an inflammatory condition that resolves spontaneously, but occasionally, develops into systemic inflammation, organ failure and mortality. Oxidative stress and activation of inflammatory pathways represent major players in AP pathogenesis. Current management of AP relies on attenuating injuries to the pancreas and putting the inflammatory process under control.

Nanoscale ZnO is a vital semiconductor material whose versatility can be enhanced by sensitizing it with metals, especially noble metals, such as gold (Au). ZnO quantum dots were prepared via a simple co-precipitation technique using 2-methoxy ethanol as the solvent and KOH as the pH regulator for hydrolysis. The synthesized ZnO quantum dots were deposited onto glass slides using a simple doctor blade technique.

The influence of n-octylammonium iodide (OAI, passive layer) on the types of phases formed in a (MACl)FAMAPb(IBr) perovskite film was studied using X-ray diffraction. Using UV spectrophotometric techniques, it was determined how varied OAI additive layer ratios affected the linear and nonlinear optical characteristics of glass substrates/FTO/compact TiO/mesoporous TiO/(MACl)FAMAPb(IBr) films. All films' direct optical bandgap energies were determined to be 1.

Introduction: The management of hospitalized COVID-19 patients depends largely on controlling the intensified inflammatory response known as the cytokine storm. Candidate inflammatory cytokines can serve as new biomarkers for the management of hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Methods: Patients (80) were recruited into three groups: room air (RA), oxygen (OX) and mechanical ventilator (MV).

Background: Acute paracetamol toxicity is a common and potentially life-threatening emergency causing liver failure that may necessitate liver transplantation. Unfortunately, current therapies are still defective.

Objectives: To investigate the protective effects exerted by Aleppo galls (Quercus infectoria Olivier) extract against acute paracetamol toxicity in mice.

Background: Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is an over-the-counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that may cause acute toxic overdosage particularly in neuropsychiatric patients. Paracetamol is also very commonly prescribed as an analgesic and antipyretic agent. Paracetamol toxicity causes decreased reduced glutathione and oxidative tissue damage.

Using a songbird, zebra finches, as a developmental drug abuse model we found previously that cannabinoid agonists administered during the sensorimotor period of vocal learning (50-75 days of age) persistently alter song patterns and cocaine responsiveness in adulthood. However, these effects were not produced in adults exposed to similar treatment regimens. Currently, we have used the MAGL inhibitor, JZL184, to test whether enhanced endocannabinoid signaling may similarly alter cocaine responsiveness.

Malignant TS-GCT is an extremely rare and aggressive tumor with only few cases published in the literature, due to the small number of cases is not completely understood and is diagnostically challenging. Although surgical treatment is the primary treatment modality, there is no consensus regarding adjuvant treatment. Regardless of mode of treatment, the tumor still caries unfavorable prognosis.

Fibrolipomatous hamartoma (FLH) of the nerve (also known as perineural lipoma, neural fibrolipoma, or lipomatosis of the nerve) is a well-known, rare benign lesion that can affect any peripheral nerve, resulting in significant enlargement of the involved nerve with fibrofatty infiltration. Although it is most commonly involving the median nerve, other peripheral nerves can be also involved. Being familiar with the pathognomonic characteristics on different imaging modalities and the association of this entity with macrodactyly help reach the diagnosis, avoid putting the patient at risk of an invasive procedure, and can guide management.

Over the past few years, biogenic methods for designing silver nanocomposites are in limelight due to their ability to generate semi-healthcare and para-pharmaceutical consumer goods. The present study reports the eco-friendly synthesis of silver nanoparticles from the hitherto unexplored mucus of territorial snail Achatina fulica by the facile, clean and easily scalable method. The detailed characterization of the resultant samples by UV-Visible Spectroscopy, FESEM-EDS, XRD and FTIR Spectroscopy techniques corroborated the formation of silver nanoparticles in snail mucus matrix.

Selective hydrogenation of nitriles is an industrially relevant synthetic route for the preparation of primary amines. Amorphous metal-boron alloys have a tunable, glass-like structure that generates a high concentration of unsaturated metal surface atoms that serve as active sites in hydrogenation reactions. Here, a method to create nanoparticles composed of mesoporous 3D networks of amorphous nickel-boron (Ni-B) alloy is reported.

2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have received widespread interest by virtue of their excellent electrical, optical, and electrochemical characteristics. Recent studies on TMDs have revealed their versatile utilization as electrocatalysts, supercapacitors, battery materials, and sensors, etc. In this study, MoS nanosheets are successfully assembled on the porous VS (P-VS ) scaffold to form a MoS /VS heterostructure.

Zebra finches are songbirds that learn vocal patterns during a sensitive period of development that approximates adolescence. Exposure of these animals to a cannabinoid agonist during their period of sensorimotor vocal learning alters song patterns produced in adulthood. Thus, songbirds have unique value in studying developmental effects of drug exposure on a naturally learned behavior.

The UV and global solar radiation on a horizontal surface at ground level in Riyadh City (latitude 24 degrees 34' N, longitude 46 degrees 43' E) have been measured and analyzed. Measurements of UV radiation (295-385 nm) were recorded every 10 min for five years (January 1983-December 1987). The maximum recorded hourly mean irradiance UV radiation was 28 W/m2 and occurred in July, while the minimum was 14 W/m2 in December.
