Prevalence of hoarding disorder in individuals at potential risk of eviction in New York City: a pilot study.

This study estimated the prevalence of hoarding disorder (HD) in individuals seeking help from Eviction Intervention Services Housing Research Center (EIS), a not-for-profit community organization in New York City (NYC) that aids clients with housing problems including eviction. One hundred fifteen EIS clients were screened for HD. The prevalence of HD among those seeking help from EIS was 22% (clinician-rated) and 23% (self-rated), which is nearly 5 to 10 times greater than the rate of hoarding (2% to 5%) in the general population.

Grisel syndrome or atlantoaxial non-traumatic subluxation is a rare entity, poorly described in pediatric literature, although it is a pathology that usually appears in young children. Two cohorts (designated "estimation," n = 34; and "validation," n = 107) of chronic hepatitis C patients were assessed using digitized conventional helical CT. Calcineurin is a serine/threonine protein phosphatase that plays a critical role in many physiologic processes such as T-cell activation, skeletal myocyte differentiation, and cardiac hypertrophy. We previously showed that active MEKK3 is capable of stimulating calcineurin/nuclear factor of activated T-cells (NFAT) signaling in cardiac myocytes through phosphorylation of modulatory calcineurin-interacting protein 1 (MCIP1). However, the protein kinases that function downstream of MEKK3 to mediate MCIP1 phosphorylation and the mechanism of MCIP1-mediated calcineurin regulation have not been defined.

Serum leptin levels correlate with hepatic steatosis in chronic hepatitis C.
