The purpose of this single-center, retrospective study was to evaluate both scoring systems to diagnose COVID-19 infection in a high-prevalence area.
Materials And Methods: Chest CT datasets (n = 200) and available reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) on nasopharyngeal swab were included.
Background: Stenting of the ureterovesical anastomosis reduces the incidence of urological complications (UCs) after renal transplantation, but there are multiple stenting techniques, and there is no consensus regarding which technique is preferred. The aim of this study was to compare an internal versus an external stenting technique on the incidence of UCs.
Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of 419 deceased donor renal transplantations performed between January 2008 and December 2013.
Context: Wound morbidity is an important surgical complication after kidney transplant.
Objective: To assess risk factors for postoperative wound complications and the impact of such complications on outcomes of kidney transplant.
Design And Patients: Retrospectively, 108 consecutive kidney transplant patients between January 2010 and December 2010 were included in the analysis.
Background: In renal transplantation, prolonged cold ischaemia time (CIT) increases the risk of delayed graft function, rejection and graft failure. To minimise CIT, renal transplantations are performed directly upon graft availability and often take place during the night. Night-time surgery is supposedly associated with an increased risk of surgical complications compared with daytime operations.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLiving donor kidney transplant is the preferred treatment for end-stage renal disease; however, the shortage of kidney donors remains a big problem. One of the major reasons for the shortage of living donors is the risk of potentially serious surgical complications of a procedure in which the donor has no personal medical benefit. Therefore it is important to understand the risk factors for perioperative complications associated with donor nephrectomy.

The aim of this systematic review was to compare the existing techniques in relation to the risk of urological complications. All studies that compared ureterovesical anastomotic techniques in kidney transplantation were included.

The presence of ureteral duplication in the renal graft might result in an increased complication rate. We analyzed our data of double-ureter renal transplantations using a case-control study design.

Since 2007, our center used routinely a gentamicin-containing collagen sponge (GCCS) when closing the wound. The effect of GCCS on SSI is not elucidated clearly.

One reason for a cautious approach to graft removal is its high morbidity and mortality rates. We analyzed the morbidity, mortality, and risk factors of transplant nephrectomy at our center.

Air monitoring sites covered an area of ~1143 km(2) and PAS were allowed to accumulate PBDEs in the city's airshed over three consecutive seasons commencing in the winter of 2008. The average sum of five (∑(5)) PBDEs (BDEs 28, 47, 99, 100 and 209) levels were highest at the commercial and industrial sites (12.

Design And Participants: Mixed methods and a cross-sectional design involving Indigenous women from a Young Mums Group designing the research instruments and acting as peer interviewers. Data were collected in 2004 from young Indigenous people who had never been pregnant (171 students at three high schools and 15 people at a homeless youth shelter) using a computer-assisted self-administered survey; from 59 of this group who also participated in single sex focus group discussions; and from 10 pregnant and parenting young women in individual semi-structured interviews.
Patients with heart failure used to have an increased risk of stroke, but this may have changed with current treatment regimens. We assessed the association between heart failure and the risk of stroke in a population-based cohort that was followed since 1990. The study uses the cohort of the Rotterdam Study and is based on 7,546 participants who at baseline (1990–1993) were aged 55 years or over and free from stroke.

Natural sources have been hypothesized to account for such contamination, which is characterized by a distinctive dioxin profile, in particular, elevated levels of octachlorodibenzo-p-dioxins (OCDD) as well as relatively low contributions of polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs). The present study investigated whether OCDD formation via anthropogenically derived precursors represents a possible source in such samples.

Design: Cross-sectional study using a computer-assisted self-administered survey and single-sex focus group discussions designed by a Young Mums' Group operating on participatory action principles and acting as peer interviewers.
Participants And Setting: 171 Indigenous students in Years 9-11 at three high schools and 15 residents of a homeless youth shelter in Townsville, Queensland, 27 April - 8 December 2004.
In this study, atomic force microscopy (AFM) imaging has been used to study the structural properties of polycrystalline CuInSe2 films, which are widely used as absorber materials in thin film solar cell devices. This technique demonstrated an excellent capability for the reproducible imaging of these rough polycrystalline materials. AFM imaging in combination with statistical analysis revealed distinct differences in the structural properties (i.

We hoped to examine psychiatry residency program characteristics and see if any particular characteristics had a significant relationship to improved success in the 1994 National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) results. We found that those programs with six or more PGY-1 positions available in the NRMP, those programs with an associated child and adolescent psychiatry residency training program, and those programs offering a research elective had a higher PGY-1 match through the NRMP than programs without these features.

Like many dopamine antagonists, prochlorperazine has the ability to induce extrapyramidal reactions in susceptible patients. Rarely, however, have cases of tardive dyskinesia been caused by the long-term use of this agent.

Although all of the currently available H2-receptor antagonists have shown the propensity to cause delirium, only two previously reported cases have been associated with famotidine. The authors report on six cases of famotidine-associated delirium in hospitalized patients who cleared completely upon removal of famotidine.
