To date, the ventricular myocardial band is the anatomical-functional model that best explains cardiac mechanics during systolic-diastolic phenomena in the cardiac cycle. The implications of the model fundamentally affect the anatomical interpretation of the ventricular myocardium, giving meaning to the direction that muscle fibers take, turning them into an object of study with potential clinical, imaging, and surgical applications. Re-interpreting the anatomy of the ventricular muscle justifies changes in the physiological interpretation, from its functional focus as a fiber unraveling the mechanical phenomena carried out during systole and diastole.

Fetal seizure is a very rare prenatal finding and associated with an almost invariably poor outcome, the most common causes being hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, congenital anomalies of either the central nervous system (CNS) or musculoskeletal system, and metabolic disorders. The prenatal detection of seizure-like activity in fetuses with congenital infection has not been previously reported. In this report, we describe 3 cases of seizures in fetuses with congenital infection including Zika virus (n = 2) and toxoplasmosis (n = 1).

Background The Doppler effect has allowed the characterization of several vessels in maternal-fetal circulation that have been used for practical purposes. Our review of the literature showed a paucity of information about fetal pulmonary artery pressure (FMPAP) and its behavior in regard to gestational age (GA). The objectives of the study were to evaluate a formula to calculate the main FMPAP and its correlation with GA.
