The relationship between adult health and childhood maltreatment, as moderated by anger and ethnic background.

Childhood maltreatment, anger, and racial/ethnic background were examined in relation to physical health, psychological well-being, and blood pressure outcomes. This study used data from a diverse sample of African American, Latino, and Caucasian participants (N=198). Results from a series of multiple regressions indicated anger and total childhood maltreatment were robust predictors of poorer health.

[Treatment of Zenker's diverticulum: comparison of different techniques].

Introduction And Objectives: Zenker's diverticulum has been approached surgically with different techniques over the years, evolving from open to endoscopic surgery. The CO(2) laser or the stapler can be used in endoscopic surgery. Our objective was to ascertain the recurrence or persistence of the diverticulum based on the type of surgery performed.

[Sphenopalatinum foramen: an anatomical study].

Introduction: The position of the sphenopalatine artery is essential for the endoscopic treatment of severe posterior epistaxis. This artery passes through its own foramen, which has a wide range of locations and anatomic relations.

Objective: To carry out a descriptive osteological study on the sphenopalatine foramen area.

[Physiopathology of sleep-disordered breathing in children].

Sleep-disordered breathing represents a broad spectrum of alterations, ranging from habitual snoring, through obstructive hypoventilation to obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome, and produces breathing and architecture anomalies during sleep. There are some controversies on the physiopathological mechanisms of sleep-disordered breathing and its metabolic, neurocognitive and cardiovascular effects. The causes of comorbidity in obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome in children are not yet well known and can include blood gasometric anomalies, fragmented sleep, and local and systemic inflammation, modulated by genetic, environmental and ethnic factors.

[Anterior ethmoidal artery at ethmoidal labyrinth: Bibliographical review of anatomical variants and references for endoscopic surgery].

Introduction: The anterior ethmoidal artery (AEA) has a trajectory with multiple anatomical variations. In addition, there are no clear references to locate it, so it is easy to produce an iatrogenic lesion. The goal of this study was to carry out a bibliographical review to analyse variants and endoscopic reference reports in the scientific literature.

CO2 laser surgery of supraglottic carcinoma: our experience over 6 years.

Introduction And Objectives: The study goal was to analyze the oncologic and functional outcomes of transoral laser microsurgery in the treatment of carcinoma of the supraglottic larynx.

Material And Methods: A total of 53 patients were included in this retrospective review between 2000 and 2006. The follow-up period was more than 2 years and the mean follow-up for all patients was 49 months.

[Obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome in children].

Obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome is a well-known clinical entity in adults but until now it has been less well studied in children. In recent years there has been a dramatic increase in the recognition of sleep disorders in children. Our goal is to analyze scientific data published in the last few years.
