Article Synopsis
  • Breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) is a rare type of T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma that needs surgical treatment, with additional therapy recommended for advanced cases.
  • A 40-year-old woman presented with symptoms related to BIA-ALCL after having textured silicone implants for seven years; she underwent surgery and chemotherapy, leading to temporary remission.
  • Further research is needed to define optimal therapies for advanced BIA-ALCL, and mediastinal biopsies are important to differentiate between cancer relapse and conditions like rebound thymic hyperplasia (RTH).
