Real-World Variability in the Prediction of Intracranial Aneurysm Wall Shear Stress: The 2015 International Aneurysm CFD Challenge.

Purpose: Image-based computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is widely used to predict intracranial aneurysm wall shear stress (WSS), particularly with the goal of improving rupture risk assessment. Nevertheless, concern has been expressed over the variability of predicted WSS and inconsistent associations with rupture. Previous challenges, and studies from individual groups, have focused on individual aspects of the image-based CFD pipeline.

Medical directors of breast imaging centers: beyond films.

Over the past decade, breast radiologists have been increasingly asked to fulfill a new dynamic role as medical directors of breast imaging centers. To our knowledge, there are no standardized job descriptions nor defined roles and responsibilities for this position. Job descriptions are usually crafted to fit unique institutional and individual situations.

Safety and efficacy of the MDR inhibitor Incel (biricodar, VX-710) in combination with mitoxantrone and prednisone in hormone-refractory prostate cancer.

Purpose: VX-710 (biricodar, Incel) restores drug sensitivity to cells expressing P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and multidrug resistance-associated protein (MRP1). MRP1 is expressed in a high proportion of prostate tumors while P-gp expression is variable. Since mitoxantrone (M) and prednisone (P) are substrates for MDR transporters, we initiated a study to evaluate the safety, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy of VX-710 plus M/P in patients with hormone-refractory prostate cancer (HRPC).
