A rare case of dicephalic parapagus conjoined twins diagnosed in the third trimester.

Dicephalic parapagus conjoined twins, a rarely occurring form of conjoined twinning has poor prognosis and remains a significant cause of perinatal deaths. Since majority of cases of conjoined twins are not compatible with life, early and reliable detection with diagnostic medical imaging remains crucial for adequate patient counselling, medical and surgical management. We present a case of dicephalic parapagus twin gestation with associated congenital anomalies detected for the first time with ultrasound in the third trimester in a 29-year-old pregnant woman.

A case of ruptured infrapatellar bursa sac with Baker's cyst.

A 40-year-old female arrived with persistent posterior right knee pain, swelling in the popliteal, infrapatellar, anterior calf areas and difficulty walking due to joint stiffness. Multiple hypoechoic collections with internal echoes and debris were discovered in the anterior calf region using ultrasound imaging, which extended from a thick-walled infrapatellar hypoechoic collection with peripheral vascularity. A significant popliteal fossa cyst of comparable appearance was also observed.

Lumbar facet joint arthrosis on magnetic resonance imaging and its association with low back pain in a selected Ghanaian population.

Objectives: Facet joint arthrosis is a common radiologic finding but remains controversial as a source of low back pain. We conducted a study to evaluate some of the potential risk factors contributing to the development of facet joint arthrosis, such as age, gender, and body mass index (BMI). The study aimed at establishing an association between these factors and facet joint arthrosis in the Ghanaian population, as a foundation for further research on low back pain.

Multiparametric MRI for the improved diagnostic accuracy of Alzheimer's disease and mild cognitive impairment: Research protocol of a case-control study design.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a major neurocognitive disorder identified by memory loss and a significant cognitive decline based on previous level of performance in one or more cognitive domains that interferes in the independence of everyday activities. The accuracy of imaging helps to identify the neuropathological features that differentiate AD from its common precursor, mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Identification of early signs will aid in risk stratification of disease and ensures proper management is instituted to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with AD.

The degree and appropriateness of computed tomography utilization for diagnosis of headaches in Ghana.

Introduction: Headache is a common and sometimes debilitating medical condition. Patients presenting with no neurologic anomaly, nontraumatic primary headache require careful evaluation before neuroimaging. National Guidelines standardizing exploitation of Computed Tomography (CT), the most utilized imaging modality in this clinical scenario, has not been established in Ghana, a developing country with limited healthcare resources.

Perception of Ghanaian Primigravidas Undergoing Their First Antenatal Ultrasonography in Cape Coast.

Ultrasound scans have become an essential requirement of pregnancy care in countries with developed health services and increasingly being used in medical practice in Ghana as well. The aim of this study was to find out the perception of primigravidas experiencing antenatal ultrasonography for the first time in Cape Coast. This was a descriptive, prospective study which employed the use of a questionnaire to obtain data from 384 consented respondents, who were primigravidas experiencing antenatal ultrasonography for the first time in three selected public health facilities in Cape Coast Metropolis over a six-month period.

Cerebrospinal Fluid Amyloid Beta, Tau Levels, Apolipoprotein, and H-MRS Brain Metabolites in Alzheimer's Disease: A Systematic Review.

Background: There is compelling evidence that neurochemical changes measured by proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H-MRS) occur at different phases of Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, the extent to which these neurochemical changes are associated with validated AD biomarkers and/or apolipoprotein (APOE) ε4 is yet to be established.

Objective: This systematic review analyzed the available evidence on (1) neurochemical changes; and (2) the relations between brain metabolite and validated cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers, and/or APOE in AD.

A national survey of MRI safety practices in Ghana.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to assess current MRI safety practices among MRI facilities in Ghana, and their compliance with the 2013 American College of Radiology (ACR) guidance document on MR safe practices.

Material And Methods: A questionnaire developed from the 2013 ACR Guidance Document was used to collect information on magnetic field strengths, MR safety policy and compliance, patient screening, emergency preparedness, infection control, MRI safety accessories, equipment safety, signage and barriers, report of adverse incidents, and access and communication.

Results: Out of the 13 MRI facilities identified, response rate of 92% was obtained.
