Rationale And Aim Of The Study: The healthcare challenges posed by NS and sarcoidosis in general extend beyond their physical symptoms and can include a variety of psychosocial factors, therefore the recognition of main neuropsychiatric symptoms can be useful to approach patients with NS. Methods: For this purpose, databases such as Pubmed, Medline and Pubmed Central (PMC) have been searched.

The association between social comparison in social media, body image concerns and eating disorder symptoms: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Research has found that high social media use is associated with a greater tendency to compare oneself with others, which in turn may heighten body image concerns and problematic eating behaviours. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to examine the mean association between online social comparison and body image concerns, eating disorder behaviours and positive body image. Eligible articles published between 2008 and 2024 were searched for in scientific databases.

Inference of a Susceptible-Infectious stochastic model.

We considered a time-inhomogeneous diffusion process able to describe the dynamics of infected people in a susceptible-infectious (SI) epidemic model in which the transmission intensity function was time-dependent. Such a model was well suited to describe some classes of micro-parasitic infections in which individuals never acquired lasting immunity and over the course of the epidemic everyone eventually became infected. The stochastic process related to the deterministic model was transformable into a nonhomogeneous Wiener process so the probability distribution could be obtained.

Strong Non-Reciprocal Chiroptical Properties in Thin Films of Chiral Alkylthio-Decorated 1,4-Phenylene/Thiophene Dyes.

In the context of chiral π-conjugated materials, the use of enantiopure alkylthio appendages represents a valid alternative to conventional alkoxy groups: sulphur atom is bigger and more electron-rich than oxygen, thus allowing for higher polarizability, greater flexibility, larger bulkiness and lower structural anisotropy. In light of these considerations, here we report two new chiral alkylthio-decorated 1,4-phenylene/thiophene dyes, obtained by simple synthetic strategies involving Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling protocols, looking for strong non-reciprocal chiroptical features in thin films. In particular, for the chiral alkylthio-decorated 1,4-phenylene-bis(thiophenylpropynone) (Thio-PTPO) dye, which proved to be the most promising for our purpose, a detailed investigation in thin films was carried out, involving optical and chiroptical spectroscopies in absorption and emission, as well as optical microscopy techniques.

Medium- and Long-Term Effects of COVID-19 in a Population of Patients Admitted to the Intensive Care Unit: Cognitive and Psychological Sequelae and Quality of Life Six Months and One Year after Discharge.

Most researchers have assessed cognitive functions in post-COVID-19 patients by means of screening tools and found cognitive sequelae in addition to anxiety, stress, depression, and a reduced quality of life (QoL). This study was aimed at investigating cognitive and psychological sequelae in patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) six months (t6) and one year (t12) after discharge from the hospital, the impact of critical illness on well-being and QoL, and the protective role of cognitive reserve (CR). Twenty-three ICU patients underwent an extensive neuropsychological test battery at t6 and t12; a healthy control group underwent the same evaluation.

Treating patients with eating disorders can be challenging for therapists, as it requires the establishment of a strong therapeutic relationship. According to the literature, therapist characteristics may influence intervention outcomes. The aim of this systematic review was to identify and synthesize existing literature on therapist interpersonal characteristics that could affect psychotherapy relationship or outcomes in the context of eating disorder treatment from both patients' and therapists' perspectives.

In this review, we explore the connections between developmental embryology and axonal regeneration. Genes that regulate embryogenesis and central nervous system (CNS) development are discussed for their therapeutic potential to induce axonal and cellular regeneration in adult tissues after neuronal injury. Despite substantial differences in the tissue environment in the developing CNS compared with the injured CNS, recent studies have identified multiple molecular pathways that promote axonal growth in both scenarios.

Management of hepatorenal syndrome and treatment-related adverse events.

Hepatorenal Syndrome is a critical complication of liver failure, mainly in cirrhotic patients and rarely in patients with acute liver disease. It is a complex spectrum of conditions that leads to renal dysfunction in the liver cirrhosis population; the pathophysiology is characterized by a specific triad: circulatory dysfunction, nitric oxide (NO) dysfunction and systemic inflammation but a specific kidney damage has never been demonstrated, in a clinicopathological study, kidney biopsies of patients with cirrhosis showed a wide spectrum of kidney damage. In addition, the absence of significant hematuria or proteinuria does not exclude renal damage.

Impact of Temperature on the Chiroptical Properties of Thin Films of Chiral Thiophene-based Oligomers.

According to the theoretical model based on the Mueller matrix approach, the experimental electronic circular dichroism (ECD) for thin films of chiral organic dyes can be expressed as the sum of several contributions, two of which are the most significant: 1) an intrinsic component (CDiso) invariant upon sample orientation, reflecting the molecular and/or supramolecular chirality, due to 3D-chiral nanoscopic structures; 2) a non-reciprocal component (LDLB) which inverts its sign upon sample flipping, which arises from the interaction of linear dichroism and linear birefringence in locally anisotropic domains, expression of 2D-chiral micro/mesoscopic structures. In this work, we followed in parallel through ECD and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) the temperature evolution of the supramolecular arrangements of thin films of five structurally related chiral thiophene-based oligomers with different LDLB/CDiso ratio. By increasing the temperature, regardless of phase transitions observed by DSC analysis, systems with strong CDiso revealed no changes in the ECD spectrum, while compounds with dominant LDLB contribution underwent a gradual (and reversible) reduction of (apparent) ECD signals.

Evaluation of Tropicamide-Phenylephrine Mydriatic Eye Drop Instillation on Choroidal Thickness.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate choroidal thickness (ChT) at the subfoveal and peripheral level after the instillation of 0.5% tropicamide + 10% phenylephrine 9 hydrochloride eye drops by using OCT scans in enhanced depth image (EDI) mode. In total, 53 patients (30 males and 23 females) were involved, and the mean age was 25.

Objective: A growing body of evidence suggests that online gaming increased during the COVID-19 outbreak. This systematic review aims to summarize extant literature that reported on problematic gaming among both adolescents and adults during the pandemic and to identify available research on the bidirectional association between problematic gaming and mental health outcomes.

Method: A systematic search was carried out through PubMed, Web of Knowledge and AGRIS, Embase, Medline, PsychINFO (from January 2020 to January 2023), using keywords related to problematic gaming and mental health outcomes.
