Soil treatments with EAMa 01/58-Su strain conducted in both Northern and Southern Spain reduced the olive fly () population density emerging from the soil during spring up to 70% in treated plots compared with controls. A model to determine the influence of rainfall on the conidial wash into different soil types was developed, with most of the conidia retained at the first 5 cm, regardless of soil type, with relative percentages of conidia recovered ranging between 56 and 95%. Furthermore, the possible effect of UV-B exposure time on the pathogenicity of this strain against adults coming from surviving preimaginals and carrying conidia from the soil at adult emergence was also evaluated.

This study aims to determine the effects of an educational intervention, based on the Colombian guidelines for educational communication in the framework of cancer control, for raising lung cancer prevention-related awareness, and improving healthy lifestyles in female scholars from a low-income area in Bogota, Colombia. Uncontrolled trial conducted in 243 female scholars (mean age 14 years ± 1.5 SD).

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of an educational intervention on breast self-examination, cancer prevention-related knowledge, practices, and behavior change in scholars from a low-income area in Bogota, Colombia. Uncontrolled trial was conducted in 155 scholars. Two educational sessions, 90 min each, were carried out in March 2015 according to the Colombian guidelines for educational communication in the framework of cancer control.

[Knowledge, attitudes and community practice during an outbreak of dengue in a town in Colombia, 2010].

Objective: 17 cases of dengue were reported from the town of El Playón (7°28'15"-N/73°12'00"-W/altitude 510 masl) during epidemiological study weeks 5-6 and 12-13/2010. The Santander Department's Health Secretariat sought outbreak investigation and community knowledge-attitudes-practice (KAP) assessment on 16-4-2010 concerning a dengue fever outbreak in the town after an epidemiological surveillance committee had met; this was to strengthen local action regarding Aedes aegypti vector promotion-prevention-control.

Methods: This was a descriptive outbreak investigation study using an active search for cases having clinical manifestations of dengue according to protocol definitions, an entomological survey and a KAP survey of 47 people selected by simple-random-sampling.
