Background: Pancreatic Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) allows for the administration of a higher biologically effective doses (BED), that would be essential to achieve durable tumor control. Escalating treatment doses need a very accurate tumor positioning and motion control during radiotherapy. The aim of this study to assess the feasibility and safety of a Simultaneous Integrated Boost (SIB) dose-escalated protocol at 45 Gy, 50 Gy and 55 Gy in 5 consecutive daily fractions, in Border Line Resectable Pancreatic Cancer (BRCP) /Locally Advanced Pancreatic Cancer (LAPC) by means of a standard LINAC platform.

Vasculitides represent the wide-ranging series of complex inflammatory diseases that involve inflammation of blood vessel walls. These conditions are characterized according to the caliber of the predominantly involved vessels. The work-up of vasculitides often includes imaging to narrow a differential diagnosis and guide management.

Background: COVID-19 is associated with variable symptoms and clinical sequelae. Studies have examined the clinical course of these patients, finding a prolonged need for invasive ventilation and variable re-intubation rates. However, no research has investigated factors and outcomes related to re-intubation secondary to respiratory failure among patients with COVID-19 with ARDS.

Background Blunt cardiac injury (BCI) is a possible consequence of sternal fractures (SF). There is a scarcity of studies addressing BCI in patients with different types of SF and with pre-existing cardiac conditions. The goal of this study was to delineate diagnostic patterns of BCI in different cohorts of SF patients.

Objective: The presence of elevated dopamine (DA) and its major metabolites in the cytosol of neurons has been associated with their vulnerability in Parkinson's disease (PD). Over 99% of the cell's amines are confined to secretory vesicles (SVs), making these structures fundamental in the regulation of cytosolic DA levels. SVs of platelets use similar, if not the same mechanisms to accumulate serotonin in SVs as dopaminergic neurons do to store DA.

Purpose: Sternal fractures (SF) are commonly associated with other injuries and their incidence is on the rise. The aim was to evaluate injury characteristics and outcomes in patients with all types of SF after blunt trauma.

Methods: Retrospective analysis of 380 SF patients from two Level 1 trauma centers was performed.

Purpose: This study aims to examine the relationship between insurance status, hospital ownership type, and children's hospital designation with outcomes for pediatric patients undergoing neurosurgical treatment for spasticity.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study utilized the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project Kids' Inpatient Database and included 11,916 pediatric patients (≤ 17 years of age) who underwent neurosurgical treatment for spasticity between 2006 and 2012 using ICD-9-CM procedure codes.

Results: Uninsured patients had a significantly shorter hospital length of stay compared to Medicaid patients (-1.

Objective: Our study aimed to assess the association of insurance status and hospital ownership type with inpatient hospital outcomes among a nationally representative population of pediatric craniosynostosis neurosurgery patients.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study utilized data from the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project 2006-2012 Kids Inpatient Database. Primary outcomes including length of stay, and favorable discharge disposition were assessed for all pediatric neurosurgery patients who underwent a neurosurgical procedure for craniosynostosis.

Sacha inchi oil (SIO) is an attractive source of polyunsaturated acids oil. A randomized crossover clinical trial was done to evaluate SIO effects on postprandial lipids and inflammatory state caused by a high-fat intake. Twenty metabolically healthy (MH) and 22 metabolically unhealthy (MU) subjects consumed a high-fat breakfast alone or supplemented with SIO.

Introduction: The postprandial stage is associated with the increase of markers related to cardiovascular risk, and its intensity depends on the metabolic state. Objective: To determine the impact of a high-fat meal intake on the metabolic and inflammatory profile, and its relationship to abdominal obesity. Materials and methods: This clinical trial included 42 individuals (21 with abdominal obesity).

Background: The postprandial stage is related to cardiovascular risk and it depends on the type of meal consumed. We study the effects of Sacha inchi oil on the postprandial glycemic state caused by meals rich in saturated fat.

Methods And Results: A double blind randomized trial in which 42 adult men ingested two breakfasts rich in saturated fat, one of them containing additionally 15 mL of Sacha inchi oil.

This work proposes a green, simple and rapid chromatographic methodology for separation and determination of a group of 13 fatty acids methyl esters (FAMEs) by using a capillary gas chromatography with a flame ionization detector. The method was successfully applied for the determination of FAMEs in biodiesel samples from commercial and waste cooking oils, synthesized by homogeneous catalysis. Detection and quantification limits were in the μg L(-1) level.

Objective: Identifying family history, dyslipidaemia, hyperglycaemia, low physical activity and being overweight or suffering from obesity as cardiovascular risk factors in children aged 7 to 14 years in Cartagena, 2009.

Materials And Methods: A descriptive study of 173 children from Cartagena, Colombia, was designed. Biochemical serum parameters were determined by spectrophotometric methods.

Introduction: Extensive clinical and statistical studies suggest that individuals with high overall cardiovascular risk in midlife can be identified by their relatively higher values of risk factors at younger ages.

Objectives: To estimate the prevalence and clustering of recognized biological and behavioral cardiovascular disease risk factors among young adults in a neighborhood in Cartagena de Indias. Methods.

Objective: Ascertaining levels of self-reported adherence and metabolic control (from a bio-psychosocial perspective) aimed at putting forward culturally-sensitive strategies leading to better results being achieved by diabetes programmes.

Methods: A descriptive study was conducted, involving 131 diabetic patients who were affiliated to one of the largest health insuring entities in the city of Cartagena, Colombia. Interviews were held for ascertaining the levels of self-reported adherence; glucosylated haemoglobin A1c was measured to evaluate metabolic control.

Introduction And Development: The development of new management strategies for acute stroke demands better understanding of the ischemic mechanism, cerebrovascular anatomy, and cerebral hemodynamics for individual patients. The use of carotid duplex sonography, transcranial Doppler sonography, and echocardiography allows evaluation of the key areas of interest in a prompt, safe, accurate, and cost effective manner.

Conclusions: Knowledge of these methods is essential for neurologist caring for patients with stroke.

The modification in the composition of bile acids in hamster by the administration of high dose of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) was investigated. Male Golden Syrian hamsters were divided into five groups: a control group, two groups that received 0.5 g of UDCA per 100 g of standard diet during 30 and 60 days and another two groups that received 1 g of UDCA per 100 g of standard diet during 30 and 60 days.
