Paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS) were initially defined as neurological syndromes with unknown etiology that often associate with cancer. This broad definition may lead to misconception that any neurological syndrome, which coincides with a cancer might be considered as PNS. In the last two decades it has been suggested that PNSs are mainly immune-mediated.

Article Synopsis
  • The Xanthomonas genus typically cannot produce xanthan gum in lactose-based media due to low β-galactosidase expression.
  • This study discovered that certain natural strains of Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri (Xcc) can utilize lactose as their only carbon source to successfully produce xanthan gum.
  • Among the 210 strains isolated, NIGEBK37 was the most efficient, yielding 14.62 g/l of xanthan gum and showing the highest viscosity of 44,170.66 cP, highlighting the limitations of a commercial Xanthomonas strain in similar conditions.
