We propose a nonlinear-optics-based nanosensor to detect malachite green (MG) contaminants on semiconductor interfaces such as silicon (Si). Applying the simplified bond hyperpolarizability model (SBHM), we simplified the second-harmonic generation (SHG) analysis of an MG-Si(111) surface and were able to validate our model by reproducing experimental rotational anisotropy (RA) SHG experiments. For the first time, density functional theory (DFT) calculations using ultrasoft pseudopotentials were implemented to obtain the molecular configuration and bond vector orientation required by the SBHM to investigate and predict the second-harmonic generation contribution for an MG-Si 001 surface.

Applications range from tunable band gaps, high absorption coefficients, and versatile electronic properties, making them ideal for solar cells to light-emitting diodes and even photodetectors. In this work, we present, for the first time, a nonlinear phenomenological bond model analysis of second harmonic generation (SHG) in tetragonal ABO with arbitrary input light polarization.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between anorexia nervosa, food addiction, and emotional eating.
Subjects And Methods: The study was carried out with 395 university students. The Eating Attitude Test (EAT)-26 was used to determine the risk of anorexia nervosa in individuals.
Background: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of sarcopenia and its associated factors in community-dwelling older adults at risk of malnutrition based on the Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA), Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI), and Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI).
Methods: The study participants were 345 adults aged >65 years who visited Geriatric Internal Medicine outpatient clinics. The study included people without acute illness for whom the risk of malnutrition could be assessed and appropriate measurements taken.
As optical properties, the ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) absorption spectra of capsanthin-based red natural dye are a decisive parameter for their usage in various applications. Thus, accurately predicting the maximum UV-Vis wavelength ( ) values is critical in designing dye-conjugated material. Extensive metadynamics simulations were carried out to generate capsanthin conformers at various levels of the extended tight-binding method.

Objective: Both decreased food intake and elevated inflammation contribute to malnutrition in hemodialysis (HD) patients. Malnutrition, inflammation, anthropometric measurements, and other comorbidity factors were investigated in this study as potential indicators of mortality in HD patients.
Patients And Methods: By measuring geriatric nutritional risk index (GNRI), malnutrition inflammation score (MIS), and prognostic nutritional index (PNI), 334 HD patients' nutritional status was assessed.
Blood hemoglobin levels are a reliable indicator for anemia screening, which generally uses an invasive system or takes blood using a syringe. Spectrophotometry can work by "substituting" the use of a phlebotomy tube needle with electromagnetic wave radiation or light. This study aims to develop and carry out a noninvasive diagnostic test for measuring hemoglobin levels.

Although it is safer than the lithium-ion battery, the voltage window of the sodium-ion battery is narrower than that of the lithium-ion battery, thus limiting its practical implementation. Therefore, a highly concentrated electrolyte is required to address this issue.

Hypoglycemia is one of the leading factors of death in blood glucose level (BGL) metabolism disorders. Optical methods have been heavily researched due to its potential to eliminate drawbacks of conventional hypoglycemia detection; however, clinical data are still scarce.

The additions are in the form of a self-interaction and cross-interaction of the brain's amygdala and prefrontal cortex. We show that the cross-interaction significantly determines the final decision of a player, whether it becomes a rational or an irrational choice.

We investigated the effects of soursop supplementation on blood pressure (BP), serum uric acid (SUA), and kidney function. A total of 143 subjects were included in this randomized controlled trial.

Based on the results from previous work by Roper et al., we modified a nonstochastic phase model for cold receptor neuronal signaling dynamics in mammals.

A numerical study has been carried out by means of the Green's function method to explore possible performance improvements of a simple grated waveguide (GWg) by the variations of its grated structure. It is shown that a GWg featuring symmetric two-sided grated structure of 16 teeth with a 60 nm groove depth and having a symmetric refractive index profile with a relatively large contrast between the grated and ungrated layers is capable of delivering largely improved device performance compared to that achieved previously with a one-sided grating of 40 nm groove depth and asymmetric index profile. The improvement is characterized by a remarkable 8-fold and 15-fold increase in the group index and the maximum field intensity, respectively, at the first resonance wavelength above the upper band edge (shorter wavelength), while relatively less improvement is found at the first resonance wavelength below the lower band edge (longer wavelength).

The dynamics of Davydov-Scott monomer in a thermal bath with higher order amide-site's displacement leads to anharmonic oscillation effect is investigated using full-quantum approach and the Lindblad formulation of master equation. The specific heat is calculated based on the thermodynamic partition function using the path integral method. The temperature dependence of the specific heat is studied.

We have examined the rational solitons in the Generalized Coupled Mode model for a deep nonlinear Bragg grating. These solitons are the degenerate forms of the ordinary solitons and appear at the transition lines in the parameter plane. A simple formulation is presented for the investigation of the bifurcations induced by detuning the carrier wave frequency.

The aim of this paper is to report the hospital prevalence of chronic renal failure, the spectrum of the various underlying diseases and the outcome of these patients managed with conservative treatment. The diagnosis of chronic renal failure was established either on the first hospital admission or during the course of the disease. During the period of three years (1986-1988), 489 cases of various renal diseases were admitted to the Dr.
