Poor environmental conditions combined with continuous unhealthy and unsafe diets may substantially increase the risk of a vicious cycle of enteric infections (EED-environmental enteric dysfunction) and malnutrition (DBM-double burden of malnutrition) in children. Gut melatonin, mainly produced by the intestinal microbiota, can modulate the composition, variety, and dynamics of the microbiota itself and may affect and be affected by intestinal microbiota alterations due to DBM and EED.

Methods: This is a cross-sectional, analytical, and descriptive study with 51 candidates for liver transplant. Sociodemographic and clinical data, anthropometric parameters, food consumption, and a 10mL blood sample were collected from each patient.
This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of Nile tilapia skin as a xenograft for the treatment of partial-thickness burn wounds in children. This is an open-label, monocentric, randomized phase II pilot study conducted in Fortaleza, Brazil. The study population consisted of 30 children between the ages of 2 and 12 years with superficial "partial-thickness" burns admitted less than 72 hours from the thermal injury.

The searches were run on the PubMed database, using the descriptors "probiotics and lipid profile" and "probiotics and dyslipidemia," with publication dates restricted to 2013 to 2018. Supplementation with probiotics significantly reduced total cholesterol, LDL-c, and triglycerides and increased HDL-c.
