Minor burn injuries in children affecting less than 10% of total body surface area (TBSA) are often successfully managed in the outpatient setting, however it is important to recognize they can be associated with serious sequelae such as toxic shock syndrome (TSS). We conducted a retrospective chart review at a tertiary-level pediatric hospital between May 2012 and May 2022 to identify pediatric patients diagnosed with TSS following minor burn injuries. Background: Infantile lip hemangiomas are challenging to manage due to the functional and aesthetic importance of the lips. Hemangiomas in this region may lead to significant complications including ulceration, feeding difficulties, and lip contour distortion requiring surgical intervention.
Methods: A retrospective chart review of children with focal lip hemangiomas treated at our institution between January 2000 and December 2016 was conducted.
Objective: Perforator flaps are one possible surgical treatment for burn scar contractures; however, a review of evidence on this topic is lacking.
Methods: MEDLINE was searched for articles related to perforator flaps for burn contractures. Following title and abstract screen, full texts were searched to identify articles describing perforator flaps for burn scar joint contractures.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the perceived satisfaction and barriers to care for transgender patients after they decide to undergo gender-affirming surgery (GAS).
Method: A survey consisting of 21 multiple-choice and short-answer questions was distributed to transgender organizations and online forums across Canada and the United States. The data were then analyzed using descriptive statistics.
