Article Synopsis
  • Epidermoid cysts (ECs) are rare benign growths in the testicle that can resemble more severe conditions, necessitating precise diagnosis and often surgical intervention for confirmation.
  • A 21-year-old male experienced chronic pain and was found to have a firm mass in his right testis, which imaging identified as an intratesticular EC, leading to a partial orchidectomy for evaluation.
  • Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis, demonstrating the cyst's keratin-filled nature, and underscored the need for surgical removal to accurately diagnose and treat testicular masses in young men, with the patient recovering well post-surgery.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most frequently diagnosed cancer and a leading cause of cancer-related mortality in men. The diagnosis and treatment of PCa carry considerable medical, psychological, and economic implications. Among the risk factors contributing to cancer, viral infections, notably Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), play a significant role.

Fatty acid desaturase () is the key enzyme that leads to the formation of unsaturated fatty acids by introducing double bonds into hydrocarbon chains, and it plays a critical role in plant lipid metabolism. However, no data are available on enzyme-associated genes in argan trees. In addition, a candidate gene approach was adopted to identify and characterize the gene sequences of interest that are potentially involved in oil quality and abiotic stress.

Unlabelled: B-Raf proto-oncogene has been found in a variety of neoplasms. BRAF stimulation can promote tumour proliferation through the activation of the MAP/ERK kinase pathway. This study aimed to determine the germline spectra of BRAF and the association with pathological criteria of prostate tumours.

The first described case of deep dorsal vein thrombosis of the penis secondary to vaccine-induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT), a complication of COVID adenoviral vector vaccines. The patient reported pain in the penis one month after vaccination. On ultrasound, a deep dorsal vein thrombosis was found and a biological workup was ordered to confirm the VITT trail.

A real life-threatening emergency, Wunderlich syndrome (WS) is an interesting and unknown clinical condition characterised by intense beginning of spontaneous, non-traumatic renal haemorrhage in the sub-capsular and perirenal space, with a typical clinical and radiological presentation [1] that allow the diagnosis. Although most cases are treated invasively either by surgery or embolization to control the bleeding, Fortunately our 66 year old patient admitted to the Mohammed V military hospital in Rabat benefited from a conservative treatment, which allowed him to avoid all the associated complications and to be discharged from hospital in less than 4 days.

Introduction: rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune disease primarily affecting the joints. Arthritic disorders are associated with mutations of the Mediterranean fever (MEFV) gene. The aim of this study is to show whether MEFV mutations will be involved in the pathogenesis of RA, to explore the frequency of these mutations and to study the genotype-phenotype correlation between mutations in this gene and a cohort of Moroccan patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Article Synopsis
  • * A survey of 100 slaughterhouse workers showed that while their attitudes (65.7%) and practices (53.44%) towards meat handling were satisfactory, their overall knowledge of hygiene was low (39%).
  • * Bacteriological analysis revealed significant contamination, particularly with E. coli, found most on walls and knives (90%), highlighting the need for better training for workers and improved slaughter facilities to ensure meat safety.

The Argania is an endemic genetic resource in Morocco holding an important ecological and socio-economical benefit. However, overgrazing and overharvesting lead to a serious downturn in the number of trees. To characterize genetic diversity within and among 24 populations, represented by 240 argan trees, four combinations of SRAP primers and eight combinations of REMAP primers were used.

Drought and desertification are the major environmental constraints facing the Sahelian agro-ecosystems for decades. Assessing genetic diversity of native tree species is critical to assist ecosystems restoration efforts. Here we describe genetic diversity and structure of seven Balanites aegyptiaca L.

Article Synopsis
  • The COVID-19 lockdown has led to increased sleep disorders and mental health issues among the Moroccan population due to various stressors.
  • The study involved a survey assessing demographics and psychological factors, revealing that 82.3% of respondents held false beliefs about sleep, which correlated with higher levels of anxiety and depression.
  • The findings indicate that sleep-related misconceptions are risk factors for these mental health issues, and the prevalence of these disorders does not significantly differ between healthcare workers and those in other professions.

  • The study aimed to investigate the prevalence of autoimmune diseases (AIDs) among Moroccan patients and analyze their autoantibody profiles to enhance the country's medical databases.
  • Conducted at the National Institute of Hygiene in Rabat, the retrospective study involved 3,182 patients, revealing that only 29.7% were diagnosed with AIDs, with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), intestinal malabsorption (IM), and arthritis polyarthralgia (AP) being the most prevalent.
  • The research indicated notable variations in prevalence among genders and highlighted specific autoantibodies associated with different diseases, such as anti-dsDNA for SLE and anti-CCP2 for rheumatoid arthritis, underlining the importance

Argan Tree is well known for its precious oil extracted from its seeds particularly used for the nutritional and cosmetic benefits. Because of the high international demand, the argan tree suffers from overexploitation and its cultivation is rare. Thus, the assessment of the genetic variation of this endemic tree is critically important for designing conservation strategies.

Introduction: Xantogranulomatous pyelonephritis (XGPN) is a rare chronic inflammatory disease of the kidney that can be focal or diffuse with the focal form imitating greatly renal cell carcinoma (RCC).

Presentation Of Case: We report a challenging clinical case of a 38-year old male with right flank pain persisting for 3-months, imaging showed an 8cm heterogenous mass of the upper pole of the right kidney and invading the liver. A right radical nephrectomy including the adrenal in the resection was performed under the tentative diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) whereas histology revealed focal XGPN.

The preparation of optically pure secondary alcohols in the presence of catalysts based on chiral ligands derived from monoterpenes, such as pinenes, limonenes and carenes, is reviewed. A wide variety of these ligands has been synthesized and used in several catalytic reactions, including hydrogen transfer, C-C bond formation via addition of organozinc compounds to aldehydes, hydrosilylation, and oxazaborolidine reduction, leading to high activities and enantioselectivities.
