A case report of monkeypox as a result of conflict in the context of a measles campaign.

Introduction: Northwest and Southwest Cameroon suffer with ongoing conflict, associated with internal displacement of communities into bushland, violence and destruction of the health system.

Case Presentation: During a measles immunisation and surveillance campaign, following a measles outbreak, a 14-year-old boy was identified as having fever and a rash. This developed following close contact with a giant forest rat.

Antibacterial Mode of Action of the Essential Oil Active Compounds against and Efflux-Mediated Drug Resistance in Gram-Negative Bacteria.

Today, an alarming rise of bacterial gastroenteritis in humans resulting from consuming -tainted foods is being observed. One of the solutions for mitigating this issue may be the antibacterial activity of essential oils. In the present research, we propose to study the antibacterial activity against and other Gram-negative bacteria of essential oil and its active molecules.

High Quality Light Field Extraction and Post-Processing for Raw Plenoptic Data.

Light field technology has reached a certain level of maturity in recent years, and its applications in both computer vision research and industry are offering new perspectives for cinematography and virtual reality. Several methods of capture exist, each with its own advantages and drawbacks. One of these methods involves the use of handheld plenoptic cameras.

The thin line between protection and conviction: Experiences with child protection services and later criminal convictions among a population of adolescents.

Relying on official data provided by the Québec City Youth Center, Canada, we explore the nature and intensity of officially known criminality for all youth (N = 5399) found guilty under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act between 2003 and 2012 and assess the relationship between criminality and previous episodes of child maltreatment. This article proposes to further verify the general hypothesis stating that there are empirical links between these two phenomena. The results suggest that those youth victims of specific types of child maltreatment (physical abuse, sexual abuse) seem to be found guilty of criminal acts that are significantly in line with these earlier episodes of maltreatment.

Scalable Image Coding Based on Epitomes.

In this paper, we propose a novel scheme for scalable image coding based on the concept of epitome. An epitome can be seen as a factorized representation of an image. Focusing on spatial scalability, the enhancement layer of the proposed scheme contains only the epitome of the input image.

Impact Evaluation of an Addiction Intervention Program in a Quebec Prison.

Objectives: This study evaluates the effects of a prison-based addiction intervention program. The evaluation is based on a multidimensional data collection that draws a portrait of the respondents' substance use, and of their psychological/emotional, social, and judicial spheres. It measures the changes, or lack thereof, in substance use; the psychological/emotional, social, and judicial spheres; as well as the post-treatment services used.

Tris-ACE-α-cyclodextrin tripods: chemistry and metal coordination behaviour.

The synthesis of C3-symmetrical tris-(ACE)-(6,6'-bis-heterocyclyl)-α-cyclodextrins via"one pot" Staudinger-Aza-Wittig (SAW) reaction is described. The spectroscopic properties of their metal coordination compounds were analysed. The spontaneous formation of metallosupramolecular helicates generate strong exciton coupling features enlighten much information on the nature, the geometries of the complexes and their absolute configuration.

Convenient labour: the prevalence and nature of youth involvement in the cannabis cultivation industry.

Background: The emergence of cannabis cultivation in industrialised countries may offer adolescents, especially those living in regions suitable for outdoor cultivation, new opportunities to participate in the drug trade. The current study examines the prevalence and the nature of youth involvement in cannabis cultivation in an important agricultural region of Quebec, Canada.

Methods: A self-report delinquency survey was administered to 1262 adolescents between 13 and 17 years who were attending one of four secondary schools in that region.

[Mental health through management of personal projects: an intervention with young retired people].

A personal goal-based intervention was offered to retired people aged 50 to 65 years with the objective of increasing their subjective well-being and their mental health. More specifically, the program presented here was aimed to promote the setting, planning, and realization of personal projects through a learning process based on a cognitive approach. At the end of the program, the experimental group (n = 117) had improved significantly more than the control group (n = 177) on all the goal and subjective well-being indicators, and this gain was maintained six months later.

[Psychological impact of separation and divorce.].

This study focuses on the psychological impact of divorce on ex-spouses. Data was gathered through a questionnaire that was handed to 127 people of which 97 were women and 30 men. Most subjects were selected from a list of names supplied by organizations offering assistance to separated and divorced people.
