Purpose: Mastectomy is necessary for 40% of the ductal carcinoma in situ. If immediate breast reconstruction (IBR) is systematically proposed, 81% of the patients would choose immediate versus delayed breast reconstruction, but the actual IBR rate is only approximately 50% of them. Therefore, the aim of this study was to identify objective characteristics that distinguish the patients who actually underwent IBR from those who did not.

Despite the use of adapted techniques aimed at increasing the flap's reliability, venous congestion remains a frequently encountered problem. We present a venous super-drainage technique used by the senior author to reduce venous congestion and improve flap reliability when harvesting larger flaps.

Dorsal perilunate wrist dislocations are rare. Associated carpal bones or radial styloid process fractures can occur and be included in the current classifications. The authors report an unusual association of dorsal perilunate wrist dislocation with a multifragmentary distal radius fracture.
