Article Synopsis
- In a study from August 1997, 124 out of 1,110 individuals were found to be seropositive for a specific filarial antigen, CFA, and categorized into three groups based on their symptoms and treatment.
- After four years, follow-up results showed a significant decrease in microfilaraemia prevalence, especially in treated groups (G1 and G2), but symptomatic cases still emerged among the previously asymptomatic individuals.
- The study concluded that while treatment reduced filaria prevalence, longer intervention efforts are necessary to fully eliminate the disease and prevent new cases from arising.
