Objectives: To perform a budget impact analysis (BIA) of the adoption of baricitinib for the management of alopecia areata (AA) by a Saudi public sector payer.

Methods: A BIA model was developed to calculate the expected financial impact under two scenarios: the baseline scenario, which reflects the current mix of treatments without baricitinib, and the projected scenario, in which baricitinib is adopted. The model assumed that patients with severe AA and those with mild-to-moderate AA who did not respond to other treatments were eligible for baricitinib treatment.

Six databases, PubMed, ScienceDirect, The Cochrane Library, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, were searched for relevant literature using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines and studies were selected according to the set eligibility criteria.

Critical factors challenging the integration of AI technologies in healthcare workplaces: a stakeholder assessment.

Purpose: This study aims to identify and assess the factors challenging the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in healthcare workplaces.

Design/methodology/approach: The study utilized a mixed approach, that starts with a literature review, then developing and testing a questionnaire survey of the factors challenging the integration of AI technologies in healthcare workplaces. In total, 46 factors were identified and classified under 6 groups.

The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS), the regulatory agency for health professions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), sought to evolve the continuing professional development (CPD) ecosystem for the country and to promote the concept of life-long learning for healthcare professionals. SCFHS audited its own CPD accreditation system, reviewed internationally recognised CPD accreditation criteria, adopted a new set of standards, and trained its staff and provider community in their adoption. SCFHS also deployed a range of programmes and grants to support healthcare educators and researchers engaged in CPD.

Are Therapies That Target α-Synuclein Effective at Halting Parkinson's Disease Progression? A Systematic Review.

There are currently no pharmacological treatments available that completely halt or reverse the progression of Parkinson's Disease (PD). Hence, there is an unmet need for neuroprotective therapies. Lewy bodies are a neuropathological hallmark of PD and contain aggregated α-synuclein (α-syn) which is thought to be neurotoxic and therefore a suitable target for therapeutic interventions.

Aim: Since there is a lack of data on dentofacial esthetic perception in Saudi Arabia, the present research was conducted to study children's and their parent's perceptions of smiles with different dental alignments and dental appearances. In addition, we aimed to determine whether facial attractiveness or dental esthetic dominates the overall esthetic perception. Finally, we aimed to investigate the influence of gender on the judgment of a dental smile.

Clinical and laboratory characteristics of idiopathic inflammatory myositis in Saudi patients: A retrospective study in a single tertiary centre.

Objectives: Idiopathic inflammatory myositis (IIM) in Saudi patients has been poorly studied owing to the lack of available data. This study aimed to identify the clinical and laboratory features of patients at a single tertiary care center.

Methods: This retrospective study reviewed the medical records of Prince Sultan Military Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to collect clinical and laboratory data between December 2022 and February 2017 as follows: age at disease onset, gender, follow-up duration and disease duration; clinical symptoms; laboratory result; presence and type of myositis-specific autoantibody or myositis-associated autoantibody; and type of immunosuppression, presence of malignancy, disease course, and outcome.
