Background And Aims: The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) relies on computer science and large datasets, with the technology mimicking human intelligence as it makes logical decisions. This study aims to assess the perceptions and experiences of anesthesiology practitioners toward AI and identify its benefits to healthcare professionals and patients, along with current and future applications of AI.

Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive online survey study was disseminated to physicians who work in anesthesiology practice in Saudi Arabia.

Breast Cancer in Young Women: Is It Different? A Single-Center Retrospective Cohort Study.

Introduction: Breast cancer (BC) is one of the commonest cancers among women worldwide. Differences regarding tumor biology, presentation, genetics, and molecular subtypes may contribute to the relatively poorer prognosis among younger women. Limited information exists regarding pathologic characteristics and long-term outcomes among this group.

Efficacy and Safety of Tixagevimab/Cilgavimab to Prevent COVID-19 (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis): A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Background: Tixagevimab/cilgavimab (TGM/CGM) are neutralizing monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) directed against different epitopes of the receptor-binding domain of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein that have been considered as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). Objectives: This study seeks to assess the efficacy and safety of TGM/CGM to prevent COVID-19 in patients at high risk for breakthrough and severe SARS-CoV-2 infection who never benefited maximally from SARS-CoV-2 vaccination and for those who have a contraindication to SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. Design: This study is a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Is surgical intervention routinely required for congenital lobar overinflation? A case series from a tertiary hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Introduction: Congenital lobar overinflation (CLO) is a congenital overinflation of a pulmonary lobe. The treatment choice depends on the severity of its symptoms. Surgical intervention is indicated for patients with significant symptomatology, while a conservative approach is used to treat incidental and mildly symptomatic lesions.

Fanconi anemia associated with moyamoya disease in Saudi Arabia.

We report a 10-year-old Saudi girl who has Fanconi anemia (FA) and was admitted due to acute hemiplegia, of the right side. She had a previous attack of left side hemiplegia that resolved spontaneously. The brain magnetic resonance angiography showed a cerebrovascular pattern of moyamoya disease.

Breast inflammation in type 1 diabetes.

Background: Lymphocytic mastitis is an uncommon fibroinflammatory disease of the breast which occurs in patients with longstanding diabetes. Various imaging patterns in mammography, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) have been widely described. This communication wishes to provide some explanation to the variation of imaging findings by a study of follow-up cases and present young nonlactating women who had abscess as the first clinical manifestation of type 1 diabetes.

Leptin levels in Arabs with primary hyperthyroidism.

Background: The aim of this report was to study leptin status in hyperthyroid men and women (prior to and after medical treatment) and in matched controls in Arabs.

Subjects And Methods: Twenty-nine hyperthyroid patients (19 women and 10 men) and 32 controls (20 women and 12 men) matched for age, ethnic status and body mass index (BMI) were studied. The patients were studied at the time of diagnosis and six months after antithyroid treatment with carbimazole-titrating dose, which rendered them euthyroid.

Steroidogenic alterations and adrenal androgen excess in PCOS.

Background: This cross-sectional study was undertaken to improve our understanding of the steroidogenic alterations leading to adrenal hyperandrogenism in polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

Methods: Two-hundred and thirty-four women with clinical and biochemical features suggestive of PCOS underwent metabolic and hormonal evaluation. We used the androstenedione/DHEAS ratio as a surrogate for the level of ovarian 3betaHSD activity.

Effects of treatment of hyperthyroidism on glucose homeostasis, insulin secretion, and markers of bone turnover.

Objective: To study glucose and bone metabolism in hyperthyroidism, assess their changes after treatment, and investigate their interrelationships.

Methods: Thirty patients with hyperthyroidism matched with 32 normal control subjects were studied. After a 10- to 12-hour overnight fast, blood samples were collected for measurement of glucose, insulin, C-peptide, and intact proinsulin levels as well as for measurement of bone markers: serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP), osteocalcin, and procollagen type I C-terminal peptide (PICP) as markers of bone formation and serum C-terminal cross-linked telopeptide of type I collagen (ICTP) as a marker of bone resorption.

Ovarian steroids modulate neuroendocrine dysfunction in polycystic ovary syndrome.

Objective: Neuroendocrine dysfunction in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) was addressed by studying the steroid hormone changes in women with PCOS with either high or normal LH levels leading to inferences regarding the primacy of elevated LH in the pathophysiology of PCOS.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was designed in an academic clinical facility involving 234 women with PCOS. Patients were divided into two groups based on an LH/FSH ratio < or >1 and hormonal and metabolic studies were performed in both groups.
