Article Synopsis
  • - The study explored the use of autologous exosomes as delivery vehicles for the chemotherapy drug 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) specifically targeting human colon cancer (HCT116 cells), highlighting their effectiveness in reaching cancer cells.
  • - Results showed that exosomes loaded with 5-FU enhanced drug release in acidic environments and led to greater cytotoxic effects and increased apoptosis in cancer cells compared to free 5-FU alone.
  • - The findings suggest that exosomes not only improve drug delivery but also influence the cell cycle and apoptotic pathways, presenting a promising natural drug carrier for cancer treatment.
