Identification and prediction of association patterns between nutrient intake and anemia using machine learning techniques: results from a cross-sectional study with university female students from Palestine.

Purpose: This study utilized data mining and machine learning (ML) techniques to identify new patterns and classifications of the associations between nutrient intake and anemia among university students.

Methods: We employed K-means clustering analysis algorithm and Decision Tree (DT) technique to identify the association between anemia and vitamin and mineral intakes. We normalized and balanced the data based on anemia weighted clusters for improving ML models' accuracy.

Comparing low-dose (DART) and enhanced low-dose dexamethasone regimens in preterm infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia.

Introduction: Determining the optimal dexamethasone dosage for facilitating extubation in extremely low birth weight (ELBW) infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) remains uncertain. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of low-dose (DART) and enhanced low-dose dexamethasone regimens in achieving successful extubation in these infants.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study at the Women's Wellness and Research Center (WWRC) involving ELBW infants who received dexamethasone for BPD prevention or treatment, or for extubation between January 1st, 2015, and December 31st, 2019.

Acute ischemic stroke and convexity subarachnoid hemorrhage in large vessel atherosclerotic stenosis: Case series and review of the literature.

Atraumatic convexity subarachnoid hemorrhage (cSAH) is a rare non-aneurysmal SAH, commonly due to ipsilateral internal carotid artery (ICA) stenosis. It is unusual for the cSAH to occur contralaterally to the infarct. We report two cases of acute ischemic stroke associated with contralateral and ipsilateral cSAH that had different presentations.

Cardiac emergencies in children are not infrequent. Early recognition and management are essential to save life and prevent any comorbidity. The presentation of cardiac emergencies and etiologies is variable depending on the age of child at the time of presentation and type of cardiac lesion.

Recurrent Post Tonsillectomy Secondary Hemorrhage in Patients with Factor XIII Deficiency: A Case Series and Review of Literature.

BACKGROUND Post-tonsillectomy hemorrhage (PTH) has been reported in the literature as a serious complication after tonsillectomy that has high morbidity and can be life threatening. In cases of recurrent secondary PTH, one should consider coagulopathies as the hidden pathology. Factor XIII deficiency is very rare, suggested to be present 1 in 2 million people.

Ultrasound for diaphragmatic dysfunction in postoperative cardiac children.

Unlabelled: Introduction The use of ultrasound for assessing diaphragmatic dysfunction after paediatric cardiac surgery may be under-utilised. This study aimed to evaluate the role of bedside ultrasound performed by an intensivist to diagnose diaphragmatic dysfunction and the need for plication after paediatric cardiac surgery.

The quality and outcomes associated with pharmacist-managed anticoagulation clinics under collaborative practice agreements in the Middle East have rarely been reported.

Patterns of Uveitis in a Tertiary Care Referral Institute in Saudi Arabia.

Purpose: To present the pattern, causes and complications of uveitis in one of the tertiary eye centers in Saudi Arabia.

Methods: In this retrospective study, clinical records of randomly selected cases of uveitis attending the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, Saudi Arabia, from 2001 to 2010, were reviewed.

Results: Our series included 888 out of 1286 cases of uveitis.

Peripheral ulcerative keratitis: Our challenging experience.

A 52 year old male presented with peripheral ulcerative keratitis in the right eye. Patient's history included retinitis pigmentosa, pseudophakia (right eye), cataract (left eye), bilateral partial deafness, ischemic heart disease, hypertension, type 1 diabetes mellitus, depression, hyperparathyroidism, hypertriglycemia and renal failure. The patient was on weekly hemodialysis.

Retained periorbital and intracranial air-gun pellets causing sclopetaria and visual loss.

Three healthy males presented on separate occasions to the emergency room at the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital (KKESH) after sustaining trauma by air-gun pellets. Clinical examination indicated sclopetaria in all the cases. The foreign bodies (air-gun pellets) were imbedded in different locations (subconjunctival, intraorbital, and intracranial).

Nodular fasciitis of the external auditory canal in six Egyptian children.

Objective: Nodular fasciitis of external auditory canal may mimic a malignant tumor due to its progressive course, so it was the aim of this study to focus on a new etiology for aural masses to avoid unnecessary aggressive treatment.

Study Design: Retrospective study on six children presented with aural masses that were diagnosed pathologically to have nodular fasciitis.

Methods: Presentation of the cases clinically, radiologically and pathologically was carried out.
