Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a frequently performed procedure in the management of hepatobiliary diseases that can be conducted as a therapeutic or diagnostic procedure. Also, it can be done with or without sphincterotomy and stent insertion. Hemorrhage is one of the most common post-ERCP complications, which can be presented as late as 10 days.

The extent of hepatic tumors in childhood differs from that found in older age groups. Some of these tumors are believed to be quite rare like undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma of the liver (UESL). The challenge in diagnosis arises from the nonspecific clinical, biochemical, and radiological features, with definitive diagnosis requiring pathological confirmation following surgical excision.

Introduction And Importance: Intraluminal migration of pellet has a wide range of manifestations. It can be asymptomatic or present with devastating outcomes such as ischemia, sepsis, or pulmonary embolism.

Case Presentation: We present a case of 57-year-old male who had a shot from air gun to his thigh, with antegrade migration to left proximal common femoral vein.

Introduction And Importance: Ewing's sarcoma is a rare entity of malignant in both skeletal and extra-skeletal sites. There are few patients reported as Extra-Skeletal Sarcoma, and fewer reported cases for Extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma involving the retroperitoneal region. Reporting such a rare entity will add to literature in helping the diagnosis and management of such cases.

We introduce a new experimental system to study the effects of pre-stretch on the buckling patterns that emerge from the biaxial compression of elastomeric bilayer shells. Upon fabrication of the samples, releasing the pre-stretch in the substrate through deflation places the outer film in a state of biaxial compression and yields a variety of buckling patterns. We systematically explore the parameter space by varying the pre-stretch of the substrate and the ratio between the stiffness of the substrate and film.

A large proportion of the population all over the world consumes acetylsalicylic acid (ASA: aspirin) or other nonsteroidal, antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). This is associated with a considerable morbidity and mortality. Elderly patients, patients with prior history of peptic ulcer disease (PUD) or its complications, those who require high doses of NSAIDs and those undergoing concomitant therapy with corticosteroids or anticoagulants, are at particularly high risk of developing gastroduodenal injuries and related adverse reactions.

Objective: Knowledge of the pattern of gastrointestinal tract (GIT) disorders detected by endoscopy is important for clinicians. The objective of this paper is to report on the indications and yield of endoscopy.

Methods: Retrospective analysis of data of all patients below 18 years of age who underwent upper GIT endoscopy from 1414 H (1993 G) through to 1424 H (2002 G) over a 10-year period at King Khaled University Hospital, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Aim: Differentiation of benign biliary strictures (BBS) from malignant biliary strictures (MBS) remains difficult despite improvement in imaging and endoscopic techniques. The aim of this study was to identify the clinical, biochemical and or radiological predictors of malignant biliary strictures.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed all charts of patients who had biliary strictures (BS) on endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) or percutaneous cholangiography (PTC) in case of unsuccessful ERCP from March 1998 to August 2002.

Aim: To know the epidemiology and outcome of Crohn's disease at King Khalid University Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and to compare the results from other world institutions.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of patients seen for 20 years (between 1983 and 2002). Individual case records were reviewed with regard to history, clinical, findings from colonoscopy, biopsies, small bowel enema, computerized tomography scan, treatment and outcome.

Objective: The pattern of medical conditions necessitating admission differs according to the weather condition in that particular year. Previous studies had been conducted during the hot weather, none over the last 10 years, were carried out during, the milder weather we are experiencing. The aim of this study is to establish the pattern of admission during this mild weather and to elucidate the possible risk factors.

This is a retrospective analysis of the medical records of 116 patients who presented to the gastroenterology division, department of medicine at King Khalid University Hospital (KKUH) in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and subsequently had a histopathologic diagnosis of hepatic granulomas. Infections contributed to 56% and were represented mainly by schistosomiasis and to a lesser extent by tuberculosis, brucellosis and hydatid disease. Lymphomas (8%) were the major representative of noninfectious causes.
