The study aimed to prepare and optimize luteolin (LUT)-loaded transdermal elastic liposomes (LEL1-LEL12), followed by in vitro and ex vivo evaluations of their ability to control breast cancer. Various surfactants (Span 60, Span 80, and Brij 35), and phosphatidyl choline (PC) as a lipid, were used to tailor various formulation as dictated by "Design Expert software (DOE). These were characterized for size, polydispersity index (PDI), and zeta potential.

The current study explores the effectiveness of an iron slag nanopowder (ISNP), which prepared from local iron steel industry, against gamma/neutron shielding. The structural and physical characteristics were experimentally determined. The crystal structure, morphology and elemental composition of the ISNP were studied using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX).

This study sought to assess patient and operator eye lens doses in diagnostic coronary angiography (DCA) and percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) in a University hospital in Oman. Kerma area product (PkA), cumulative air kerma (CAK) and fluoroscopic time (FT) were retrospectively recorded from the DICOM header for 264 patients. The median (interquartile range) of FT, PKA and CAK were: 5.

Parathyroid hormone (PTH) has attracted considerable interest as a bone anabolic agent. PTH plays a central role in regulating calcium phosphate metabolism and its increases in production in response to low serum calcium levels. A continuous hypersecretion of PTH, as occurs in primary hyperparathyroidism, leads to bone resorption.

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) causes loss of body weight and inspiratory (diaphragm) muscle dysfunction. A model of PH induced by drug (monocrotaline, MCT) has been extensively used in mice to examine the etiology of PH. However, it is unclear if PH induced by MCT in mice reproduces the loss of body weight and diaphragm muscle dysfunction seen in patients.

Cancer cachexia is characterized by a continuous loss of locomotor skeletal muscle mass, which causes profound muscle weakness. If this atrophy and weakness also occurs in diaphragm muscle, it could lead to respiratory failure, which is a major cause of death in patients with cancer. Thus, the purpose of the current study was to determine whether colon-26 (C-26) cancer cachexia causes diaphragm muscle fiber atrophy and weakness and compromises ventilation.

Palmar fasciitis and polyarthritis syndrome (PFPA) is an uncommon syndrome that affects predominantly elderly women and characterized by symmetrical polyarthritis followed by flexioncontracture of the hands. It is usually associated with a metastatic malignant neoplasm, and therefore implies a poor prognosis. We report a case of a 54-year old woman presented with palmar fasciitis and polyarthritis six months before the diagnosis of a metastatic adenocarcinoma of the ovary.
