Acute Motor Axonal Neuropathy-type Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) is a subset of GBS with either a rapidly improving or protracted course that was first described in China. We describe a 27-year-old previously healthy woman with weakness that progressed to complete tetraplegia and areflexia within 2 weeks after an upper respiratory illness. A lumbar puncture performed 4 days after onset of neurologic symptoms was inconclusive for GBS, and electromyography revealed complete motor axonal neuropathy.

With the increased reliance on the Pipeline embolization device (PED) for the treatment of complex intracranial aneurysms, our experience in managing intraoperative complications and challenges continues to accumulate amid a scarcity of reports on rescue strategies and innovative techniques. We describe the case of a 50-year-old woman who presented for elective repeat embolization of a right posterior communicating artery aneurysm with some residual aneurysmal filling. During the procedure the patient developed severe vasospasm due to vessel irritation and this led us to proceed to deploy the PED through a biaxial construct composed of the 6 French Envoy MPD DA XB, and the Marksman catheters.

In this observational prospective cohort feasibility study, mRS scores are generated using a patient-powered online survey and compared to scores obtained by structured telephonic interview.

Materials And Methods: Fifty-one patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) or their surrogates responded to an online survey following discharge from the hospital.

Neuroendovascular Interventions for Acute Ischemic Strokes in Patients Supported with Left Ventricular Assist Devices: A Single-Center Case Series and Review of the Literature.

Background: With the shortage of donor hearts, increasingly more patients with end-stage heart failure are implanted with left ventricular assist devices (LVADs). LVADs are associated with a significant risk of developing acute ischemic strokes (AISs). Very little is known on about the management of AIS in patients with LVAD, especially with regard to the safety and efficacy of neuroendovascular techniques.

Status epilepticus (SE) is a life-threatening medical and neurologic emergency requiring prompt recognition and treatment. SE may be classified into convulsive and nonconvulsive, based on the presence of rhythmic jerking of the extremities. Refractory status epilepticus is defined as ongoing seizures failing to respond to first- and second-line anticonvulsant drug therapy and carries a high morbidity and mortality.

Purpose: Endovascular coiling of cerebral aneurysms remains limited by coil compaction and associated recanalization. Recent coil designs which effect higher packing densities may be far from optimal because hemodynamic forces causing compaction are not well understood since detailed data regarding the location and distribution of coil masses are unavailable. We present an in vitro methodology to characterize coil masses deployed within aneurysms by quantifying intra-aneurysmal void spaces.
