Background: Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) has emerged as an effective treatment for managing chronic pain that is unresponsive to traditional therapies. While SCS is well documented for conditions like failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS) and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), its effectiveness in managing pain related to spinal cord injuries (SCI) is less studied. This study aims to assess the efficacy of SCS in alleviating SCI-related pain and improving patients' quality of life, filling a gap in the existing literature.

The pathways that control the generation of Th1-like Tregs are not well understood. Sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) signalling molecules are upregulated in Th1-like Tregs, and in vivo S1P inhibition with Fingolimod (FTY720) inhibits the expression of genes responsible for Treg plasticity in MS patients.

Adjudication of Hospitalizations and Deaths in the IRONMAN Trial of Intravenous Iron for Heart Failure.

Background: Patients with heart failure and iron deficiency have diverse causes for hospitalization and death that might be affected by iron repletion.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore causes of hospitalizations and deaths in a randomized trial (IRONMAN) of heart failure comparing intravenous ferric derisomaltose (FDI) (n = 568) and usual care (n = 569).

Methods: Patients with heart failure, left ventricular ejection fraction ≤45%, and either transferrin saturation <20% or serum ferritin <100 μg/L were enrolled.

Accordingly, we investigated the effects of intravenous FDI in a subgroup of patients with anemia in the IRONMAN (Effectiveness of Intravenous (IV) Iron Treatment Versus Standard Care in Patients With Heart Failure and Iron Deficiency) trial.

Method And Results: IRONMAN enrolled patients with heart failure, a left ventricular ejection fraction of ≤45%, and iron deficiency (ferritin <100 µg/L or transferrin saturation of <20%), 771 (68%) of whom had anemia (hemoglobin <12 g/dL for women and <13 g/dL for men).

Drop metastasis from the extradural to the intradural space in spinal Ewing's sarcoma - a novel case report.

Spinal Ewing's Sarcoma is a rare tumour predominantly affecting children and adolescents. We describe the case of an 18-year-old male patient who first presented with a primary extradural cervical Ewing's sarcoma tumour, and 5 years later had a recurrence with thoracolumbar and lumbosacral intradural extramedullary Ewing's sarcoma tumours. Both presentations were successfully treated by surgical resection and adjuvant chemo- and radiotherapy, and he remains disease-free at 12 months follow-up.

Objective: To investigate whether left atrial (LA) volume and left ventricular filling pressure (LVFP) assessed by cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) change during adenosine delivered myocardial hyperaemia as part of a first-pass stress perfusion study.

Methods And Results: We enrolled 33 patients who had stress CMR. These patients had a baseline four-chamber cine and stress four-chamber cine, which was done at peak myocardial hyperaemic state after administering adenosine.

Background: Myeloid sarcoma, also known as chloroma, is a pathologic diagnosis for an extramedullary proliferation of blasts of one or more of the myeloid lineages. It is an uncommon manifestation of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), although the diagnosis may occur prior to or after diagnosis of AML.
