Primary abdominal wall actinomycosis is rare, but even rarer when it comes to intestinal infiltration; it is usually misdiagnosed as a neoplasm in computed tomography till proved otherwise with pathological examination. We report a 59-year-old diabetic male presented with a year-old abdominal wall mass, diagnosed by pathology after surgical excisional biopsy, and treated with penicillin for 6 months. We recommend consideration of actinomycosis in cases of abdominal wall mass, especially in immunocompromised patients, as a differential diagnosis of neoplastic lesions.

Microorganisms oxidize organic nitrogen to nitrate in a series of steps. Nitrite, an intermediate product, accumulates at the base of the sunlit layer in the subtropical ocean, forming a primary nitrite maximum, but can accumulate throughout the sunlit layer at higher latitudes. The formin homology domain-containing protein1 (FHOD1) suppresses actin polymerization by inhibiting nucleation, but bundles actin filaments and caps filament barbed ends. Two polyclonal antibodies against FHOD1 were generated against (i) its N-terminal sequence (residues 1-339) and (ii) a peptide corresponding the sequence from position 358-371, which is unique for FHOD1 and does not occur in its close relative FHOD3. After affinity purification both antibodies specifically stain purified full length FHOD1 and a band of similar molecular mass in homogenates of cardiac muscle.

Medical images exchanged over public networks require a methodology to provide confidentiality for the image, authenticity of the image ownership and source of origin, and image integrity verification. To provide these three security requirements, we propose in this paper a region-based algorithm based on multiple watermarking in the frequency and spatial domains. Confidentiality and authenticity are provided by embedding robust watermarks in the region-of-non-interest (RONI) of the image using a blind scheme in the discrete wavelet transform and singular value decomposition domain (DWT-SVD).

F-actin treadmilling plays a key part in cell locomotion. Because immunofluorescence showed colocalisation of thymosin beta4 (Tβ4) with cofilin-1 and Arp2/3 complex in lamellipodia, we analyzed combinations of these proteins on F-actin-adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-hydrolysis, which provides a measure of actin treadmilling. Actin depolymerising factor (ADF)/cofilin stimulated treadmilling, while Tβ4 decreased treadmilling, presumably by sequestering monomers.
